Though a bomb at the time of its release, Holiday is an enjoyable entertainment based on a lovely play by Phillip Barry who would soon rescue Hepburn's career with The Philadelphia Story. Carey Grant is incomparable, and the film has an excellent supporting cast, with many recognizable character actors in supporting roles. It is always interesting to me to watch a film made in the depths of The Great Depression which depicts what people would imagine how wealthy people lived during that very difficult time in our history.
I love old movies and this one is terrific. You can't lose with a combination like Hepburn and Grant. Cary Grant was one of the greatest leading men of the era and Catherine Hepburn was the spitfire that keeps a man guessing. Great movie if your into old movies. I have found that these type of movies are also loved by children of this generation and so don't ignore the opportunity to share this one with your children. You may all be surprised.
Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn are in their prime in this film. Excellent script, supporting cast, acting and direction (George Cukor) of a Broadway play successfully adapted to the screen. Don’t hesitate.

A classic Grant-Hepburn romantic comedy directed by George Cukor. A good companion to the later film The Philadelphia story. The principals are younger here and so everything is a bit more raw and energetic than in the later classic.

Classic comedy, part screwball, part social commentary. As lovely a Hepburn as you'll ever see. The best part Henry Kolker ever played.
