The size (8") is enough to me. No big, not small like most e-readers these has 6" and a good e-ink quality. Easy to change the letter size and the led illumination system is good. I feel it is a bit slow, but what I read from other reviews it happens to e-readers in general due to focus on battery safe. The battery worked approximately 11 days without recharging to me. I use it more or less for 1:30 a day. It is not great but it is not bad. I think the price for Kobo Forma is high and it could be cheaper despite it had its price lowed in $20. But still. A big differential is the Kobo can read sereval e-books formats like epub e also kindle format. Then you can find a lot of epub books on Internet for free. An alternative is to buy (normally not so expensive) from Kobo library (https://www.kobo.com/) where you can find millions of books or buy from others sites. You won't be attached to Kobo environment like Kindle does with Amazon. About PDF, it is slow when you make zoom, but the screen size of Kobo Forma make it unnecessary most of the cases. I didn't test it with Mangas, but it seems good enough despite it also works a little slow when you zooming. But again, the screen size seems helps. Also, I recommend to install the Calibre program. You can It is free and you have version to Linux and Windows. (https://calibre-ebook.com/) In short I'm happy I bought it, not an e-reader with smaller screen and find (free) books to read isn't a issue.Read full review

Compared to other e-readers (including some older Kobo models) the Forma is far closer to an actual paper back in size and hand feel. For the better, the Forma has abandoned the race to build a bezel to bezel, fully touch screen e-ink smartphone. If I want to read a book on a smartphone sized device, I can already do that (there's a Kobo app). The Forma feels and reads like a book without me worrying my fingers will touch the screen to bring up a menu or turn the page. What initially looks like an awkward 'handle' turns out to be the best part. Thank you Kobo.

Kobo Forma is the best reader to date in my opinion. It is superior to Kindle in battery life, speed of flipping pages, contrast of screen, and accepting standard formats like PDF. The four-directional automatic rotation makes it convenient to hold the reader in any direction and change positions while reading. The extended bezel helps hold it comfortably without worrying about touching the screen. The backlight can be turned up or down with a simple hand gesture. The only downside is that they removed the SD card slot. So I recommend buying the 32GB version rather than the 8GB.
