A good product that works well and is light and compact. Good value from a reliable seller.
I deliberately went for this item based on the high consumer reviews because so many of the cheaper products were reviewed badly and I felt that it was not worth going through this. I wanted an external dvd / cd drive to be able to access my own personal archived photos on cd and also to watch a dvd on my personal computer. It works beautifully. It is easy to use - you only need to load some software, which comes with the player - and then you are away! I love how compact it is - very easy to store when you are not using it or to pop it into your laptop case and take with you. It comes with a standard usb connection, but I have an adapter for my laptop so I can easily use it with a usb "c" connection. You may just want to check your device before you order - or else you can easily ... Very Happy. Well worth it.
Purchased a cheap unbranded portable DVD RW USB before and that was a waste of money. It could not read any DVD so decided to spend a bit more which was just a couple of coffees really and buy this LG DVD RW USB. What a difference, read the dvd straightaway. It is fast too. Perfect. For extra couple of coffees you get this very good item.

Some of us still have DVD's....
Bought myself a new laptop recently...but while shopping I found few of them had a DVD drive, certainly none of the ones I liked did. Hence the need for an external drive...I have a lot of workshop manual;s copied to DVD, and a lot of old music I like to rip to thumb drives for work. I purchased the LG model here as the price was reasonable and it's a brand I'm familiar with. I wasn't disappointed... plugged it in straight out of the box and began using it. ODD are making a quiet comeback
lightweight well built- plug in and burn read or copy- decent read and burn speeds 8X for DVD and 24X for CD are ideal for ripping audio CDs to burning DVD Isos. Some of my DVDs have lasted decades Id like to see USB drives- lasting that long. Shame LG havnt made a affordable blue ray RW yet. For those newer laptops missing a Optical Drive or newer PC cases with a 5.25 external bay missing, pretty low power usage on a laptop and very quiet generally in operation.lightweight well built- plug in and burn read or copy- decent read and burn speeds 8X for DVD and 24X for CD are ideal for ripping audio CDs to burning DVD Isos.
