Typical Leica in every way, even though it is made in Japan and shares some tech with Panasonic. Very well made, with thoughtful and generally intuitive controls and menus. This really isn't a camera for those without any knowledge of photographic processes and techniques. A professional would have one of these stuffed in a pocket, and would get good results when the format would be unsuitable to carry. Not that you have to be in that league to use or enjoy this little beauty. You do have to do more than simply select Auto if pleasing results are to be had. The comprehensive instruction manual can be found and downloaded quite easily, and is a must. For a camera made in the mid 2000's, it won't disappoint. Although, if point and shoot is your thing, stick to a quality phone. There is a lot to learn if you want to get the best from this camera, so it's more of an enthusiast's device. The coveted Leica badge is prominent on the front, and on the hard leather case that came with this particular example. These cameras were the top of the tree in their segment back in their day, and still offer a lot of enjoyment to those who want a 'real camera' to play with on occasion. Can still take nice photos sometimes, but technology marches ever on. A small sensor camera at the Leica's price point just doesn't cut it any more. If you're a collector, OK... Otherwise, buy a modern camera...
