The final installment in THE EVIL DEAD trilogy takes the complete 180-degree turn from blood-spattering horror to the exciting swordplay of the Ray Harryhausen epics. S-Mart housewares clerk Ash Williams (The one and only Bruce Campbell) accidently travels back to the English Dark Ages where he romances a beautiful maiden (Embeth Davidtz, SCHINDLER'S LIST), fights guastly KNB-created beasts, and battles his evil counterpart's Army of the Dead over the Necronomicon. But can Ash get back to his own time? The only answer would be to watch both the theatrical cut (Widescreen & Full Screen) and the director's cut (Widescreen)in order to decide which version is better. Extras include: Audio commentary with director Sam Raimi, Campbell, and co-writer Ivan Raimi (Director's Cut only), original ending, THE MEN BEHIND THE ARMY featurette narrated by Campbell, 15 minutes of additional footage, four deleted scenes, storyboards, talent bios, & trailer.Read full review
Bruce Campbell delivers AGAIN in this amazing B-Level film and probably the best film in the series!!! Army of Darkness is one of my all-time favorite Low-Budget horror films. It's B-Level Movie at it's absolute best. With a bigger budget the special effects and costumes are a lot better than the first two Evil Dead films but the element of cheese is still there. Bruce Campbell delivers one of the best performances in cinematic history and really solidified himself as one of the Baddest Men on the Planet. Army of Darkness is hilarious, action-packed, and a little freaky at times. Army of Darkness is a classic and it belongs in everybodies DVD collections, right next to Evil Dead 1 & 2. Final Verdict: 5/5 Rent or Buy?: A must buy, along with Evil Dead 1 & 2. IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE. Thank you.Read full review
To date there have been six region one DVD releases of Army of Darkness, most have been OOP for a while now but if you are searching for the best version to buy this is it right here. The Army of Darkness 2-Disc Special Edition by Anchor Bay has both the Theatrical Cut (82-min) & Director's Cut (96-min) on separate discs so you can enjoy both versions of the film and not have to buy two different versions. The only downside is that the picture is not the clearest version you could get, do not get me wrong this is still the best copy out there I am just saying compared to how clean and clear the studio release films today then ten years ago you will notice a difference.
Awesome flick
