I have had a POD XT Live and still have a POD XT. I bought this to replace the POD XT in my home studio. The upgrade features of having mic inputs is great, and VU meters are accurate and just plain cool. I have it hooked to the computer with the USB cable. I had Gearbox already and this came with POD Farm. It works great with both programs and I have never had a latency issue ever with it.It also came with the Line 6 lite version of Reason recording software, which, while having a learning curve is a fabulous all in one studio. The headphone jack is right in front and has a volume knob, that is a good feature. The sound quality directly into recorded files is excellent and running into any one of my 4 amps is also excellent. It does sound best on an amp that has a very clean channel so your Line 6 simulations are not colored, but ,setting up a tone and sending it through a tube driven amp can be very rewarding The possibilities are endless. There is one glaring drawback to the UX2. It must have a laptop or computer to work at all. The POD XT can be used as a stand alone effects processor that has presets and you can add your own you program on your computer and take with you to a gig or anywhere. The UX 2 can travel if you have your software on a laptop and take both. If you intend to use it for recording and want to mic some amps or input some vocals this is probable the best I have seen at any price. It is also great for recording with your headphones on and just a guitar or mic. There is a magnificent drum machine in the Reason recording software. You can also import files to Reason to use in your mixes. I would recommend buying this over a simple interface because you will have all of the versatility you might want in the future. I use mine every day, not just for recording, I play through it. I could live to be 105 and not have discovered all of the tonal variations there are in POD Farm alone. I purchased the Metal Shop add on and it is worth every bit of the one time price of $49. It's well built, affordable and easy to use. You will wonder how you ever got by without it.Read full review
This item is exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for an item that would handle a mini studio setup. This unit allows the user to plug in 2 instruments (I use it for guitar and piano) It also allows 2 mics to be plugged in (I use audiotechnica) and it has the 48mhz conversion built in. You can also plug in headphones to it. The output controls on this allow you to control the volume on the speakers (i use JBL monitors with Sub) and it has a separate one for the headphones (i use Sennheiser 598Se) The item plugs into a PC with a usb cable. It comes with lots of software including pod farm. I went online and downloaded the latest version after initial install. This unit controls the volume for the speaker output on the pc or you can control it with the pc. I really like this unit it was tricky to setup but once I got it going its really cool to use. I can play my guitar or piano while music is streaming on pandora or spotify and there is so many unlimited tones you get for your guitar.Read full review

The Line 6 UX2 is an amazing powerful tool for guitarists of all levels. I am not very good at dialing tones I hear in my head so the many pre-existing tones are a huge help. Plus, using the UX2 to record is extremely easy. This is the first time I have ever recorded myself and was afraid the learning curve to do so would be tremendous. But with this unit and the included recording software I was up and running within a couple of hours. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone who was looking for a way to get fantastic guitar tones, whether they intended to record or not.
It´s almost plug and play. Just use the line 6 monkey software and 5 minutes later it will be installed. It works great in Win or Mac. You can record 2 inputs at the same time mono or stereo. You can use the Gearbox software or POD farm in order to emulate amps and FX with a great really cool-pro result. I use this gear with Propellerhead Reason and Ableton Live and all run smooth without any issue. The gear counts with two phanton power inputs so you can use condenser mics. The line 6 software is really stable with ASIO drivers so don´t worry about crash your laptop in the middle of a recording session. I use condenser mics, bass guitars, e-guitars, some "in line" keyboards without any saturation problems. Great sweet and warm pre-amps in the two mics inputs brings cristal-clear takes even with under $100 condenser mics. I just love this gear.Read full review

I was looking for an interface that easy enough for me to quickly plug in and record riffs. Thus far it has proven handy. It's POD farm software is really easy to use (I figured out most of its features in about an hour of playing around with it). The only thing I don't like about this product is the fact that it does not have a 3.55 mm output. Although I've never owned other products for recording, due to how easy it is to use, I would say that it has to be one of the top for recording guitars/voice.
