Set up is very easy using a USB connection to your computer and is particularly useful for home theater systems. Select the exact model of your interconnected equipment such as your amplifier, DVR, DVD, TV, Game consols etc. Select which input/output each item is connected with(composite, hdmi 1, 2, or 3 etc) . Specify which device controls sound etc for each activity and which devices are turned on or off. For example the watch TV activity can turn on you amp, DVR and TV, select the correct inputs on the TV and Amp control the sound through the amp and change channels via the DVR. The help feature is very good also, checking with you to see if all devices actually turned on as desired. If for some reason (someone walks in front of the remote during turn on) a device fails to turn on the on screen help guides you through asking questions about each device status. Within a couple of button presses the problem is rectified. Once set up everything just works. Brilliant!Read full review

Possibly because of the type of devices I am trying to program in Kogan Smart TV, Apple TV, Panasonic PVR, LG Blue Ray, Yamaha Surround Sound and DAB radio, I am having trouble getting the device to turn required items on and off. For example, the PVR together with the surround sound and the Kogan Smart TV all need to work together.

It is a great replacement for my 3 devices (TV, DVD and Receiver). Relatively easy to set-up, but you need internet access for download device specific codes. The online process was easy enough to follow. Once set-up, it took me a few uses to learn the differences from my 3 other remotes, but once familiar with the Logitech Harmony, it is easy to use. I am very happy with it

As a professional home theatre installer I have a detailed expectation on what I want these remotes to do. The basic programming seems relatively straight forward, however the native activity screen options are very random and need modifying to resemble something useful. I have programmed many of these remotes and have found Hisense TVs have an inherent Input/Source issue. You MUST use quality Alkaline batteries or better as the cheaper carbon batteries do not have enough grunt. All that being said I have not found anything else as easy to program and modify and so till then I will continue to use these.

I also have an older model Logitech remote that I've used for years, unfortunately a couple of the buttons don't always work & running on AAAs it goes through batteries quickly. Decided to get this one as a replacement. It uses AAs, so hopefully they'll last longer. It still uses the same programming software though, which doesn't function without an Internet connection. It also turns out that this remote doesn't allow you to control as many devices as the old one. You also have to set up separate accounts [a login & password] for each remote you own. So while the Logitech remotes have some good features [programmable & ability to set up macros], they're let down by un-needed software requirements.
