Pros: Top of the line SHG lens. When you move up for standard to HG its a BIG deal, and you think it can't get any better, then you go to SHG and wow. Olympus did it again, even better. Great for small studio, group shots, and full length shots. Very Sharp! Think of it as the 50F2.0 Macro, but as a wide zoom and much sharper. IT IS VERY SHARP throughout it's range. There are some technical reviews that say otherwise, but IT IS sharp, very sharp throughout the entire zoom. Cons: Very Expensive BIG & Heavy, still can be hand held, but it's a work out at the end of the day. No Macro work possible. Some people have issues of front or back focus on E3. Firmware update helps. No problems on the E30 Some issues with low light focusing. Tap 3x to get lock usually helps. or use lamp assist with FL50 or FL36. Conclusion: Amazing lens if you NEED it, but Not for everyone. If you have a 14-54MkI, MkII or 12-60 HG lenses, then consider why you want this lens. The wide open F2.0 is very nice for low light and fast subjects, do you commonly shoot wide open, shallow dof on wide end of zoom? Most people don't, so in this case primary advantage is the sharpness. Good Luck and Happy ShootingRead full review
Amazing glass, beautifully made. Matches well to E-3 and E-5 bodies. Big but still more manageable than a D3 with a 24-70mm attached. A little more at the wide end would be nice, but being largely distortion free at 28mm mostly makes up for it. Even ordinary photos look great with this. There's more to digital photography than just the size of the image sensor and this lens is proof of this. Well done Olympus.
Purchased for use with a Panasonic AG-AF100. Great len, great low light performance. Using a panasonic 4/3 to micro 4/3 converter to attach and is very solid. I am a wedding videographer and this lens really works in dark receptions. About the only downside is it is a bit heavy and has a fairly short zoom range.
The type of lens, to use for situations requiring the utmost class, because that's all this lens draws, pure class.

A fine lens, Sharp wide open and it's very solid. A bit stiff zoom ring but very nice focus ring. It's weather sealed and works great even on Panasonics AF101. Having F2 at 14-35mm makes this one the fastest zoom together with Olympus 35-100. Both very nice and fast.
