I have played every baseball franchise out there, including the new and highly touted MLB 07 The Show, and MVP, though two years old, is still far and away the best one. The Show's character models, on the ps2, can't hold candle to the MVP players, who look great. And the gameplay is simply AMAZING. The control scheme couldn't have been done better. The best feature of this game (which EVERY other baseball game lacks) is the Hitter's Eye. You no longer have to swing wildly, not knowing what was thrown. You can now distinguish fastballs, breaking pitches, sinking pitches, and knuckle pitches, which makes hitting far more intuitive and really ups your game. The funnest thing to do, since rosters get outdated, is to do a fantasy draft and manage YOUR team from day one. That NEVER gets old, as you see what's working, what isn't, make adjustments call-ups and trades to compensate, etc. The Show's controls are a little confusing, and MLB 2K7's are downright stupid. This is the best baseball game created, and I expect it to remain that way until EA has a chance to jump back into the fray in 2012, when 2K7's exclusivity expires. Granted, next-gen console games are whooping MVP visually, but the gameplay just doesn't get any better than this.Read full review
This is easily the best MLB game for PC, even though it is out of date. Owner mode is great for those looking to balance funds, dynasty mode is great for any player who wants to build their power house team, and the mini games are also addicting. The audio is the only negative, as it gets old quick, but you won't even notice it while enjoying all the great features this game has to offer.
I still cannot get enough of this baseball game. It is quite hard to hit the ball when the difficulty is set higher which makes the game much more interesting, graphics are excellent and the gameplay is overall good. However there seems to be some latency issues when the ball is thrown across the field, it acts as if the ball is almost jumping from one frame to the next, but with that said this is still the BEST baseball game out there today. I will never play another MLB "the show" again, it requires no talent at all, whereas MVP requires skills to swing at the correct pitch
This title is an excellent PC game. The graphics of the players leave something to be desired as all the players tend to look alike, but everything I have heard about this title is true. From managing my own team and players, to creating my own players. Game play is not as exciting as I thought it would be but I am using keyboard controls and not gamepad. This game rocks to say the least. It is too bad EA is not making a newer game. It is definitely the king of baseball games made for the PC.
This is an excellant game to play! It's fun because you don't know whats going to happen next. Either someone gets a homerun or someone is thrown out at home. You can even argue calls with your manager. Sometimes you even get ejected! All of your players start brand new on their stats if you decide to start your own season. You can create or edit players so you can have the best team on the game. You can play your friends or a complete straanger online. This is an awesome game for baseball fans!
