This is an excellent addition to the storyline. No cliffhangers, but it's best to read the other books in the series before reading this one. Ms. Briggs did not waste a lot of time explaining backstory. I love the character of Mercy Thompson, she is smart, loyal, headstrong and capable, and has a great sense of humor. I like that the books don't annoy my sense of women's lib, and still appeal to the romantic in me. Mercy can't do it alone, she needs help from her friends and an occasional rescue, but most of the time she can handle the worst of it capably. She never lets fear stop her from doing what's right, and she doesn't wait around for others to do the work for her. These books grab me and hold on tight from start to finnish, and never disappoint.
This series is incredible and not one book has a repeated or stale plot--it just keeps getting better & better. And I love that in easy installment there's a sort of mystery that needs to be unraveled. This book is so suspenseful that I had to read it all at once. If you like Samantha Shannon, you would love these books.

The continuing saga of Mercy Thompson. If you like werewolves and vampires and have read the other Mercy Thompson novels then you will appreciate this book. Patricia Briggs does it again. Wow! I read it in one day. Now I am chomping at the bit waiting for the next book to come out sometime in 2011. Patty is a wonderful writer who has a knack of keeping the reader interested. She puts a novel spin on the supernatural. I love her. She's a very genuine person in real life too. I'm very lucky to have her live in the same city as I do.
BACK OF BOOK SAYS: MERCY THOMPSON, CAR MECHANIC and shapeshifter never knwows what the day or night may bring in a world where witches, vampires and werevolves and shapeshifters live beside ordinary people. but she is about to learn that while some secrets are dagnerous those who sek them are just plain deadly. While this is one of my favorite series, it's also extremely fustrating. I WANT MORE ADAM AND MERCY IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? I'm over the fae stuff. the book was working good until that stuff got involved. I'm tired that she is still living in that damn trailer. i'm tired that she has not moved in with adam yet. i'm tired that she hasn't become more of a 2nd or authority figure with the wolves.
Love these books. I've read them multiple times.
