The visuals in Metropolis are amazing and leave a lasting impression. Equally impressive is the classical music score which goes very well with the visuals. This film has influenced directors Stanley Kubrick and Terry Gilliam. Especially Gilliam's 'Brazil' (1985) The missing scenes found in 2008 in Argentina which are in rough conditon are added to this restored 2010 edition. These scenes are important to the pacing and plot of the film. Metropolis is a film you can watch many times.

Without a doubt the best version of "Metropolis" I have seen so far and although there is still about 20 minutes missing it is well worth watching if you love original Sci-Fi. Put your hand in you pocket and pay the extra to get the "Reconstructed & Restored (2011)" version as it makes far more sense than all the other cut down ones released previously. It has to be the best of the early science fiction movies ever made and well worth paying full attention to ALL the subtitles/speech boards to truly understand the movie. The second DVD with the background story is worth the price of admission on its own and must be watched as well to fully grasp this masterpiece of early German cinema. In fact watch the movie then watch the background DVD before watching Metropolis again. You will be surprised the difference it will make to your appreciation of this "Classic" and ground breaking movie from the 20's.Read full review
