The lovable Minions finally get their own full-length movie. Of course this is a nonsensical romp, with no serious message of any vital importance. At the beginning, the plot displays some delightfully absurd warps of history to supply a background for the Minions' long-time lack of success in finding a suitably evil leader. Eventually, three minions, Bob, Kevin, and Stuart embark on a quest to find such a leader on behalf of the whole tribe. What follows is a series of bumbling errors on the part of the intrepid (and often unbelievably stupid) trio. They attempt to link up with a bit over-the-top villainess, Scarlet Overkill, voiced by Sandra Bullock, who obviously had loads of fun doing the part. What ensues is, not surprisingly, utter chaos, which finally ends happily for the whole tribe of Minions. Although I enjoyed the whole film and would recommend it, in places the humor didn't quite jell for me, and it tried a bit too hard to have serious moments, which failed to provide anything specially memorable. Accordingly, I could give it only 4 stars (still very good!) instead of the 5 that others may give it. Also, in order to understand the significance of the ending, it is better if the viewer has some knowledge of "Despicable Me" and/or "Despicable Me 2" before seeing "Minions," but this is not absolutely necessary. I am a 3D fan, and while I think the 3D satisfyingly enhanced much of the picture, the 3D really paid off at the end under the closing credits, when the Minions exhibit their nonsense obviously staged for the 3D effects, as they did in the closing moments of "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2." Don't walk away from the credits until you see these shenanigans!Read full review

The greatest bunch of lovable misfits ever invented. Plot wasn't complicated, but engaged your attention the whole time. Lots of laughs. It is a great all-around film with some adult humor infused. If your family doesn't embrace nudity expressions in any fashion, watch with care and caution; there is animated (mostly nondescript) nudity! All-in-all, fun for the family.

I have liked other animated movies a lot more than this one. I like movies that portray the adorable, cute, funny aspects of minions. This movie was not as cute and fun as I hoped it would be. It was too dark for my taste and I didn't think it was a great kids movie. Kids don't need to see evil or experience dark movies. They deserve to hold off on that dark side of life until they can handle it, if ever. Keep these movies adorable and fun. Don't make movies that are too evil, like Babe, Pig in the City or this one, that had too much scary stuff. Clever comedy animated movies are best, like A Bugs Life. It was smart and fun, not creepy or evil. There is too much evil on the planet already w/o kids movies being evil. Who needs it?
