Moore and Wright are a long-established precision instrument maker. Feels nice in the hand, has a reassuring weight but nicely balanced. The plastic is unfortunate, I personally would prefer metal - but has the benefit of thermal insulation. Only two buttons - yes, but each is dual function. Short press, long press. So it has all the functionality of 4-button mics (on/off, reset zero, abs/inc and mm/in), with less clutter. The buttons are soft, maybe a tad too sensitive. Big ratchet thimble, smaller knob for rapid adjustments. Both function perfectly. The display is ok, digits could be bigger, but crisp and clear. Precision - as good as it gets. The display shows 3 digits after the decimal point (metric), so the last digit is ±1µm. Accuracy depends on the skill of the operator of course, and ambient temperature, but I've made test measurements on grade A gauge blocks and I can't fault the mic there. Battery - single CR2032 lithium cell, I'm expecting to last long, and easy to change. Came with battery installed, and a spare. Accessories - plastic case, strangely elaborate (and totally unnecessary) tool for opening the battery compartment, and an attachment for measuring concave surfaces (captive ball bearing that fits over one of the measuring ends), spare battery. The case is easy to open one-handed, sadly not a feature of other instrument cases I own.Read full review
