Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Modem-Router Combos
I purchased this modem/router to troubleshoot DSL connectivity problems I had experienced over a 1 yr period at this address, using the modem/router supplied by my ISP. I hoped for a minor improvement to a very bad connection but I have been delighted with the results. Previously we would experience 8-10 DSL drop-outs a day, requiring the modem to be rebooted once or twice a day to maintain a connection. Since replacing the previous modem/router with the Netgear D6200 we have experienced 2 DSL drop-outs in 3 weeks and the modem was only rebooted once when I cut the power to replace a light switch. Having read several reviews on the D6200 I did not have high expectations for the wifi functionality of the router but here too I was very pleasantly surprised with the results. We are in a high contention neighbourhood - I can see 14-16 networks in the 2.4 Ghz spectrum using inSSIDer from my home office upstairs. With the previous modem/router the wifi was unusable, and with a good quality AP the wifi was fair at best. With the D6200 the 2.4 Ghz signal is very strong and reliable, and even the 5 Ghz spectrum is fast and reliable from upstairs (without an AP), when the modem/router is located downstairs at the opposite end of the house. I originally bought this unit as a temporary replacement, intending to upgrade to something much more expensive when we finally get NBN (HFC) sometime soon. With the D6200 having a WAN port, I have decided that I really do not need to replace it with anything else - it is doing a terrific job. Negatives? - Reviewers say the unit is large and imposing, but I personally find the simple, square, black design much less imposing than a mess of aerials. - The web interface is probably very good for someone with no knowledge of IT/Networking but I find it a bit clunky with advanced functions I want to view and use hidden away and hard to find. Overall, this is the best bit of domestic networking kit I have personally owned and used since my first 1200 baud dial-up modem used to access the computer labs at Monash Uni in the early nineties.Read full review

the only regret i have of buying this item was i didnt get one earlier. tried/had other brands (d-link and tp-link) to agnosing results such as line drop outs etc. Netgear has given NO problems at all. If modem/router needed get Netgear.
