I've been a professional photographer since the mid 1970's. And for various reasons always owned a fisheye lens. Since a few years create Virtual Tours for which a good fisheye lens is indispensable. After the most recent trials with the current Nikon 16mm , an Olympus 8mm 4/3 I was alerted to this Sigma 15mm. For its price it was too easy to buy and try. Well that was a surprise: having photographed with anything from 8"x10" / 4"x5" / 6x12 cm / 6x7 cm / 6x6 cm 6x4.5 cm / 24x35 mm all on film with every thinkable camera and having worked with every digital Nikon and Olympus I thought there would be no surprises in photo equipment anymore. How wrong I was ! This lens blew me out of my socks: the sharpness , cold reproduction ( near Zeiss like ), the near absent chromatic aberration ( near all fisheye lenses suffer from this ) are so good I already know that this Sigma 15mm Fisheye will stay with me for a long time. The mechanic build seems OK ( only time can prove ) the autofocus and manual focus work as they should. Its weight is less as from the 4/3 Zuiko 8mm yet it covers full frame. As an old 'film'pro I still can not get used to see 35mm as full frame ;-) But its detail reproduction on my D800E is worthy of any film format I used. And with a bit of Lightroom tweaking I can get near film like reproduction. So overall : a highly recommended lens.Read full review
