I purchased my Manfrotto 685b monopod about a month ago. I use it in conjunction with the Manfrotto 496 compact ball head w/rc2qr plate. It worked fantastically with my Canon Rebel Ti2 camera and 70mm-300mm lens. I like the construction of this monopod and all of it's features. I used it at one of my sons basketball games and it made panning action photos a cinch. It also made the height adjustment fast and easy as well. I use a sling bag on photo shoots and tie this on my bag or use it as a walking stick during photo hiking trips. I would definitely recommend this monopod based on ease of use, price, and Manfrotto quality.
I use this Manfrotto monopod with my cannon EF 70-200 zoom lense and it has worked great. I used a box store "cheap" monopod prior to this which was shaky and ustable. Shot 500+shots during a volleyball tournament over the weekend and was very satisfied with the stability it provided for the lense as well as it's ease of use. I wish it's compressed length were shorter for ease of attaching to my camera bag. otherwise, it out performs any other monopod I have used before. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a monopod to stablize the image of a zoom.
Outstanding monopod and one of the best that Manfrotto produces.

I wouldn't recommend this product. The greasy middle tube is exposed when the monopod is extended and inevitably the grease ends on your hands and clothing. And you have to keep the middle tube greased for the monopod to work smoothly. The rubber foot becomes lose so use teflon tape to keep it screwed tight. This monopod is not light on weight and overly priced. I purchased this monopod because of the brand name and one hand operation. It was not worth it because it was brand new and had to return it because it was broken.
