Additional information
German hip-hop group Blumentopf were formed in 1992, and they released their debut in 1997, so their 2012 album Nieder mit der GbR marks both their 15th and 20th anniversary. The record eschews the electric guitars that could be heard on its predecessor, 2010's Wir, and builds upon the strengths of their classic albums (such as 2001's Eins A), with warm funk and soul beats provided by producer Sepalot. Sportfreunde Stiller guest on the track "Supermänner," while Spider Murphy Gang frontman Günther Sigl appears on "Rosi" -- a sequel of sorts to the Gang's 1981 hit "Skandal im Sperrbezirk." Nieder mit der GbR charted at number six in Germany and is also available as a deluxe edition with five bonus songs, two freestyle sessions, and five live video clips. ~ Christian Genzel
