As I have not used other teleconverters on my Nikon lens' comparison is not possible for me. I can say that I find the TC-20E III AF-S a useful tool and a high quality addition to the kit. It does result in reduction of approximately 2 stops. This has never been a concern in the light I have used it. It can apparently result in a little vignetting but this has only been noticeable on a couple images so far and I could be the cause rather than the lens though the idea of there being some vignetting should be expecatable when so much extra glass is added between subject and picture plane. There may also be a little loss in sharpness but I would not call any of the images I have taken with it anything like soft; output is good. On the surface these appear quite expensive to me. Somewhat more expensive than a Nikon 50 f1.4 which despite being cheap compared with other lenses most would seek to have, is a wonderful lens. The teleconverter probably has about as many elements (i have not checked) and would require particular precision so price may be fair. Worth it to me. This teleconverter is beautifully solid in construction fits perfectly and on the lens I mostly use it, transmits full information and operates again perfectly. Buyers should check lens compatibilty however. I only have 3 lenses it can be used on and only one where it does everything. Then, most would probably only bother to use it on one maybe two high quality longish lenses anyway.Read full review
