This is a replacement for my original camera that I had been using since 2009. Packed in a soft-sided bag that got checked in at the airport, unfortunately - and the back screen was shattered. I prefer this model of camera for its ease of use and good image quality. At 10MP, it's not as high-resolution as others, but it fulfills all my needs for shooting within 20 feet of any subject or macro photography. I feel more comfortable traveling with a camera that does not require me to carry around a charger and cord - AA batteries are available everywhere, and last a long time. Remember to use only Energizer batteries, and remove them if the camera won't be used for a long period of time (over 3 months). A 16GB SD card gets me over 4200 photos at normal compression - the fine compression setting yields over 2100. Plenty of files for my needs. I have never gone over 500 photos for any event (so far) - and this includes weddings, socials, musical events, parties, air shows, and travel.Read full review

The Nikon L100 is a decent camera but anyone looking to buy one should be aware of a couple of things. I tried updating the camera with the factory upgraded firmware but the camera has not accepted the upgrades. Contacted Nikon support and camera is too old and is no longer supported by Nikon. Battery door is terrible design and I have discovered that many of the L100 model has the same issues of the battery door latches break off the housing and the battery door will not stay closed. And finally, the factory firmware original version only recognizes lithium batteries and alkaline batteries. If you use a metal nickel hydride (recyclable batteries) battery, the battery meter freaks out and becomes inaccurate. Many times it says battery level too low. The upgraded firmware is supposed to correct the battery meter issues and allows the camera to recognize metal nickel hydride batteries but unfortunately, trying to install upgrades fails. Nikon support walked me through the steps several times but failed every time. They will not do it themselves and recommended bringing it to a "Best Buy" geek squad service dept. Do your research before buying. I also have a Canon A640 camera and is a much better made product. Just saying. Read full review

I bought this to replace my Fuji 550. I wanted a point and click that had a few more features than my last. The Nikon CoolPix L100 has a large display but it's clarity leaves some to be desired, it gives a very pixelated and grainy image, like the contrast is up too high. It has 15x mechanical zoom which works awesome, and a 4x digital zoom making a total of 60x zoom. The anti vibration feature (stabilization)in the digital zooming works mediocre at best when holding by hand, I have yet to use my tripod with the zoom. The delay shutter and wide angle lens work great together, I took the camera with us on our first light rail ride, we used the delay shutter to get shots of the whole family together and even when I couldn't get the camera in the best position it still captured everyone in the shot. For the average price these have been going for on eBay of $125 it is a good buy, but I wouldn't pay much more.Read full review
I have read so many reviews about this cam before i consider buying it. I had nikons , sonys , canons and casios before. I am a digital photo freak for some of you. I do photoshop and printing my own pics too. I dont consider myself a pro but I have over 15 years of photography experience. Mostly try and fail :) First of all price. I got the camera from ebay and you can see the seller from this review. I paid 138$CAD. which is pretty much nothing for this kind of camera. So I believe it gets 5 stars for the price. You can get pretty much the same price from this seelr and they have a year warranty included whic is amazing. Second ,the ease of use. Cam provides presettings for those not familiar with ISO and exposure. I think even if you are a new person to digital photography it will take couple of days to start using the cam in the right direction. And as always, if you buy anything electronic "read the MANUAL". Which most of the ppl just leave it in box right after they open the item. I give 5 stars for the ease of use. Third, the energy consumption. Unfortunately I am a big fan of lithium-ion rechargeable batt. this machine only uses AA batts. It has a good range of 900 pics for lithium AA batts but still its inconvenient to carry 4 AA batts for this machine. 3 stars for AA batt..booo Fourth, the size and weight. There are similar machines with much heavier and bulkier bodies. I think nikon has a decent weigth and size for its class. To be able to maintain a lens size like this you cannot compare it to point n shoot cameras with thin bodies and tiny buttons. I see this cam as a bridge between SLR body and point and shoot body. I give 5 stars for the size n weigth. Overall I am happy with this camera as I use it for daily pics or a weekend getaway. It has vivid colors, a great panaromic pic option( its great to be able to fit the entire horizon or the lake in one loooong pic :) and great night exposures especially if you have a tiny tripod to stableize the cam. Here are some tips that I always remember but most of us dont apply even we know its important. -Always clean your lens with proper equipment. maintanence is crucial for any electronic device. -protect your lcd screen if you have one. all you need is a dollar worth screen sheet but it works wonders. -always have a secondary memory.even theyr expensive and brand names they all fail when their time is done. -read the manual.its for you to get the most out of any device you pay money. -if you dont know how or why, google it.learn something new or important about your camera that you didnt know :)Read full review
