Not as sharp as I would like and needs a lot of light to even capture an image, but for the price is a decent product

I bought this lens for my husband for Father’s Day. Although the lens seems sturdy and well built, it has to connect to his Nikon with a mount adapter, requiring shooting to be done in manual mode. As the lens has no anti-shake capability, it’s crucial to have absolutely steady hands or use tripod. Using a monopole was unfortunately still too shaky and yielded blurry pics. IMO, If the lens is relegated to tripod-use only— then it’s ultimately NOT a bargain at all. We get beautiful sport pics using a Tamron 300mm with antishake, but this 500mm in manual mode is a major disappointment and nowhere as useful as the Tamron. You know the old adage— If it seems too good to be true..

Produces crisp, clear images! A great lens at an affordable price. I have had zero problems producing quality images with or without the use of a tripod. I am one happy customer!!

Wanted to shoot manual again after many years. Nice little lens for shooting birds without breaking the bank...it is a blast have fun with it, and be flexible.

To be honest, this is nowhere near as useful as my Tamron 300mm has been. Although this Opteka is sold at a nice price, it needs to be absolutely, completely still to get a reasonable picture that's not blurry. Forget hand held shots-- this HAS to be used with a tripod and NO movement whatsoever to avoid blurring the subject. Even the monopole was too shaky for my test shots. I would not plan on getting any action sports shots with this. As this lens will NOT be recognized due to the mount adapter, it must be used in Manual mode on your camera. Seller's appear to be giving a rebate back if the purchaser will give it a favorable review, which is very misleading to other buyers. I'd rather tell the truth.
