Perfect Light - No Hot Spots, and They Save Lives!
These work perfectly in retro car lights that have reflectors in the back of them. The LEDs point backwards at a 45 degree angle and reflect/disperse light perfectly giving a perfectly even lit brake/tail light, with no hot spot. Because the LEDs emit red light in the exact colour as the brake/tail lens, the light appears brighter even though it only draws 1.7W. You may need an LED-type relay flasher to replace the old style flashers that tend to 'hyper flash' when they don't see enough of a 'load'. The replacement flashers are cheap and will operate at very low currents. The other plus is that LED tail lights emit light immediately, as opposed to incandescent globes that are much slower to light up. It's been reported that a person following someone who applies heavy braking will stop 18 ... These work perfectly in retro car lights that have reflectors in the back of them. Same light level as original globes only better (smoother more even) beam spread
Whist your waiting for the traffic lights to change; you don't want to be annoying the driver behind you with overly bright brake lights due to cheap LED's with a poor beam spread pattern creating bright spots. The engineers at Philips have done a good job designing this globe as a direct replacement for the original Halogen filament globe. The small LED chips in this globe are in a line of 5 on each side and positioned in the same location as the filament in a traditional globe. The LED's face backwards to reflect light off the reflector as your car was designed (before advent of LED globes). The result is a beam spread matching the original globes; and the light spread is more accurate and consistent. Beware of cheap LED globes; they overheat and burn out. -- see youtube Watch for ... PHILIPS Vision LED RED BRAKE LIGHT 21/5W
Good quality bulbs. There is a good difference between park light and brake light. I do not believe there is any increase in brightness over stock bulbs but provides a nicer tone overall and uses less power which was important for my use on motorcycle with average battery/charging capacity. I would buy again as at present there are not many other options for red coloured led bulbs.

3 years and still look great
Good quality with a really nice red maybe a little brighter than incandescent bulbs but definitely a better tone of red but as for low power consumption not in my case on my BA falcon i had to use load resisters as the brake lights interfered with the canbus system and caused cruise control to shut down ,just added a load resister to the brake light circuit and its all good .
