I purchased this to use for astro photography and spectroscopy. I have been testing it but only tried it out a few times for actual use yet. For this application there is no point in using standard lenses with autofocus and zoom lenses are a nuisance so I cannot comment on the performance for these functions. The camera itself seems very well laid out with controls that are instinctive to use. I especially like the view finder display and the option of the tiltable LCD display. The light weight is also an advantage. The tests I have done are mainly with an old 100mm lens with an adapter and 1.25 inch filter holder in front of the lens. At full aperture this corresponds to F4.2. With this configuration I can use a UV blocking filter, An IR blocking filter, An IR pass filter and various coloured filters in various combinations. I am interested in the spectral response over the entire band but have yet to fully characterise this so these are my initial assessments only. They clearly show that the spectrum is extended both to the UV and IR and for this lens the resolution depends on waveband as expected. I set up a USAF 1951 target (3 bars) with constant illumination and fixed distance to the camera so I can compare both the required exposure and resolution over the various bands. Here are some results. Exposure No filters 1/320 s, IR blocker 1/160 s, UV blocker 1/250 s, UV +IR blocker 1/125 s Resolution No filters 1, IR blocker 4, UV blocker 1, UV +IR blocker 3 The numbers relate to the target size larger number is a smaller target with number 2 target being 1/ 1.122 times smaller than target 1 (1.1222 is the 6th root of 2). Similarly for other numbers so target 4 is 1/1.587 times smaller than 1. I am very pleased with this camera so far it seems very versatile and easy to use. I am looking forward to utilising it both for imaging and spectroscopy.Read full review

Very pleased with my new camera body, very good value for money, nice colour, works fine and fits my lenses perfectly. Bit disappointed with the packaging as it seemed a bit on the flimsy side but only one teeny scratch on the body so can’t complain.

I decided to buy the Panasonic Lumix DMC G2 camera on the recommendation of a friend and I am absolutely delighted with the results so far. I have 2 professional DSLRs for my work but wanted a good quality, easily carried everywhere camera and this is what I got. It has a useful 14-42 zoom lens and produces 12.1 megapixel images which stand up extremely well to enlarging. The only weakness is the pop-up flash which is not very powerful and if you leave the lens hood in position a shadow is thrown on the picture, so I remember to remove it before using the flash. I have no hesitation in recommending this camera to anyone.
Well pleased with item starting to get good results just need to get the hang of processing the pics. Easy to use but you do need to know the ins and outs of infra red as there is a lot of work after the shot.
