In comparison to the Lumix 12-60mm 3.5-5.6 the image quality is overall noticeably better which I didn't expect reading reviews of this lens. The main selling point for me was the wider minimum aperture and smaller range of aperture change (1 stop compared to 1.3-1.5 stops) and it does make a difference. The bonus is that it has tactile qualities i.e. weight, solidity and smoothness of operation that makes me want to use it. While it is subjective, I find this lens good value for money and quite an improvement over the standard zoom by Lumix which is already a very good lens.

Been after one of these lenses for a while. The leica has a 2.8 - 4 aperture against the lumix 3.5 - 5.6. Also all metal body etc. Haven't taken a lot of images with it yet, but happy with the sharpness so far. Got it at a good price $600 (probably a kit lens) and it looks hardly used.

Great, well built lens. Pretty much parfocal as well, so works well as a video lens!
