I love the idea of having this lens for those shots that require that extra bit of focal length For that very distant something I want to get a shot of. I would seldom need this lens, but when it's really needed, it's comforting to know the 'big boy' is close at hand. This lens is not for a 'K' pentax, although I have a 75-300mm Sigma for my 'K' with the same justification. I normally have the 'K' loaded with B&W for the stark contrast stuff. I have the Quantaray mounted on a SF-10, and it performs beautifully. I also keep handy an N-8008 Nikon with a 28-90mm Quantaray with a 70-210 Kodak in case I want to get fancy. I'm a nut about doing weird experimental stuff. Macro and such.
I haven't used it enough to check picture quality under good conditions. I've only used it to take pictures of the waves from Irene and a surfer riding one. I have a K20D and the auto focus was fast and accurate. So far I really like the lens.
The lens arrived quickly and well packaged to protect it. So far it has taken some very nice pictures. At time of writing this review I had not printed any of the pictures only reviewed them on my laptop and they seem to be very clear and without defects. So I am quite happy with the purchase and very happy with the price. Thanks
My wife need a new telephoto lens and after looking for weeks this one came up. Being that I am stationed overseas in the army we use the internet to buy most of our stuff. When the lens got here we checked it out and it had no scratches or dents but when we went to use it, the lens failed and gave an error code on the camera.
