Red Sea Fish Supplies

Reef aquariums are without a doubt the most beautiful type of aquarium to own, and the careful balance of life found in a reef is satisfying to maintain all on its own. It’s also complicated, with half a dozen things to keep track of to make sure the fish and other creatures in your tank stay healthy. Salinity, temperature and more need to be kept within acceptable range if your aquarium is to thrive, and that means constant monitoring and testing. Red Sea has been producing a complete range of reef aquarium equipment for over twenty-five years, with the intention of making reef aquariums easier to maintain and more accessible to the world by having a range of products that complement each other and work together, so you never have to double check if your aquarium equipment is even compatible.

Coral Equipment

The real complication with reef aquariums is that coral in its natural environment is reliant on a whole cycle of nutrients that simply doesn’t exist in a tank. In order to get those nutrients in the water for the coral to filter out, you’ll need a protein skimmer. Red Sea also sells a range of products covering the bacteria normally found around reefs, as well as the other nutrients and chemical elements required for coral to live a healthy and long life. These products also pair with the testing kits that Red Sea produces, allowing you to track the state of your tank’s water as you work to build and maintain the right chemical conditions for coral growth. Other testing equipment that’s important to have include a refractometer to measure the salinity of the water (very important to keep that one consistent) and a thermometer for the temperature. Constant use of aquarium water tests and treatments is recommended. Micromanaging this part is a big aspect of owning a reef tank.

Fish

By the time you add the fish you should have cultivated the bacteria needed to deal with the nitrate that comes from fish excrement. You’ll then need general fish supplies like heaters, thermometers and of course the correct type of food to make sure every one of your tank’s inhabitants stays happy.
