I upgraded from a Samson CO1U to the Rode NT1000 for recording male vocals for music. It’s definitely worth the switch! Big upgrade in the sound of quality. I’ve known about the NT 1000 for years as a friend of mine has it. Also, I always saw good reviews on its clarity & quality as well as longevity. I’m happy to own 1 now!

I have been project studio recording for many years, and I can tell you that for the money (I hate it when people say that cliche') this is probably the best mic for me. I have used it on acoustic guitars, vocals, and various other percussive instruments and I can tell you simply-it sits well in the mix. It does have a slight warmth to it-not colored-and certainly has a bite at the top. I find that combination works for cutting popular vocals through and putting them in your face. Kind of like they just "float" out there, which is very desirable for my style of recording. It is really solidly built, hard metal and mesh-I would DEFINITELY recommend the shock mount (extra) and a pop screen. All in all, if this is to be your only mic you can't go wrong.
I had always heard from others that these mics were true champions in the studio. Just gives you the best reproduction of sound at this price point for PRO gear. And, I was a bit unhappy with what I was using before. It wasn't right for my voice, so I got this NT 1000 for a very good deal on EBAY INDEED!!! Then shortly there after bought "Rode Microphone UPGRADE SERVICE for NT1000, NT1a, NT2-a" and wow I was lucky enough to get the mic for something like $165 put $80 into the Mod and now it is sounding like a $3,000 I am not kidding. So the fact that it's made like a tank, and is a preformer out the gate that you can mod into a Neumann basically. I would say that I am VERY happy with this purchase. I recommend this over the cheaper NT1a. I've heard them both premod at the same time and to me it harkens back to MIM strat ppl trying to convince themselves that they got the real deal and it's even better than the real thing. But if asked to trade everyone of those owners would in a second :)Read full review

Love this Mic. A friend recommended it to me and I love it's warmth and breadth. It's a solid, well-rounded Mic. Coupled with the SM-2 shock mount, I can't see you'd need another main mic for most situations. Highly recommended!
