This has always been my favorite movie. Have watched it on several occasions. The clarity of the picture was not really the best from what I had seen before BUT it is what I wanted. Just a tad blurry at the beginning. OVERALL - I CANT COMPLAIN.

Richard Collier (Christopher Reeve) is a playwright who while suffering writers' block, travels to the sea side to collect his thoughts. Passing by an old hotel, The Grand Hotel, he is suddenly drawn in and decides to spend the night. While waiting for the restaurant to open, he decides to take a little walk down Memory Lane in a room full of displays and memorabilia from the Hotel's history. Here he encounters an old picture of a beautiful actress, Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour), from 1912. He is thoroughly taken by her, but doesn't know why. Eight years earlier, at the opening of a play he had written as a senior in college. an old woman had approached him and given him a pocket watch, and she had bade him to return to her. Practically obsessed with the idea, he somehow has to try to return to her and be with her in 1912, where he feels that they had shared a moment in time. Through self hypnosis he transports himself back to 1912 where he meets her. She was an actress appearing in a play at the Grand. Here, they fell in love and shared a moment of bliss that was remembered for a lifetime, but separated by time itself. Only in death could their true love be shared "Somewhere in time". This was a sad movie and a truly beautiful love story. I believe that you will like this movie an d the musical score.

Somewhere in Time is a beautiful movie.
I first saw the movie, then looked high and low for the book on which it was based: "Bid Time Return" and finally found it. It differed some from the movie, but was equally a great read, captivating and moving. The music in the movie added the component the book could not and added the visuals of the beautiful hotel in which it was filmed as well. You'll not be disappointed with this and want to watch it often. It will tear at your heart strings, so have your hankies handy.
