A "must-have" as a predecessor to "Three Imaginary Boys". It also most definitely leads you into the darker sound of "Faith" and "Pornography", with what sounds like a musical bridge between "Three Imaginary Boys" and "Faith". It has a pop, post-punk sound, and notable tracks are "A Forest", which most have heard but don't know they have. It is a perfect option for those who want to get into The Cure's work but don't enjoy their wider known pop sound verses their "post-punk" sound. Definitely pick it up if you haven't given it a listen, especially if you haven't given it a listen, and even more so if you are familiar with "Faith" as it is notably the bridge to "Faith" and "Pornography" from "Three Imaginary Boys", and further down the road towards The Cure making it more known. Also pick it up if you have "Disintegration" but don't like "Three Imaginary Boys" and are looking to listen to their older works without compromising that.Read full review
The Cure's brilliant goth masterpiece. Honestly, I know I've stated in other reviews how I think this Cure CD or that Cure CD is the best one but I've concluded that Seventeen Seconds is hands down their best! If there is one flaw, it's too short but I usually solve that problem by hitting the play button again. Dark, moody, and dare I say...groundbreaking!!! 5 Huge Stars.
This one is the model for slowcore, and the mood is unrelenting and very soothing.
