Excellent Modem router with NBN FTTC support.

Excellent modem router for large homes even double stories. It has really good coverage and easy setup. Product finish is of good quality too. Configuration UI is pretty decent and has all the parameters that one needed. I have Dodo NBN FTTC and this modem router is compatible with it. Product description from TP link miss this information but it is compatible. However, I faced quite a bit of problem getting it connected with the dodo. I put everything as in my old dodo supplied modem but it just gets disconnected. I even talked to a dodo technical support person and even they were affirm that all the settings are correct. I found out that if I plug any Ethernet cable into lan3 the internet was getting disconnected. I took the cable out and it got connected. Not sure if its my copy of the device or I am missing some settings. I am just using lan1 and lan2 for Ethernet connections along with a network lan hub. I also added 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for Primary DNS 1 and 2 as they were suggested in the support FAQ on the Tp link website. After that it is really working well with improved speeds and devices that were getting dropped off are no longer facing that problem. Phone line setup worked with a bit of tweaking. Dodo Voip preset did not work just with username and password. I had to select others in the telephony setup and add sip and outbound proxy to make it work. Get the username and password from the ISP. Search google for the correct settings and you will find it. I will recommend it highly.

    Simple changes break interface

Do not buy this router if you want to change any of the settings in it. Works fine out of the box but as soon as I changed the SSID name and password it comes up with error 9003 in the web interface and you can no longer make some changes in there. It may have been my NBN connection that broke it not the SSID but after 2 weeks of going through level 1 and level 2 TP-Link support they were unable to solve. Unacceptable.

  • An excellent low-cost modem with dual band wireless and gigabit ethernet

This is a great alternative to a lot of stock modems ISPs offer you either for free or for ~$150. It is definitely a better option to buy your own when it can provide dual band wireless, gigabit ethernet ports AND beam forming wireless technology, which provides better wireless to individual devices connected to the modem's wireless 2.4ghz or 5ghz bands. TP-Link have also improved their UI for the modem - which is very welcome compared to the old UI as it was not that great to work with. Mac addresses also now confirm to the global generic of semi colons instead of a dash. (: vs -) which makes it much easier to cut and paste MAC addresses into the modem for StaticIP addresses. I've been using mine for a month or two and it's doing a great job of managing my mediocre internet connection but super fast internet network. The extra options and features are very good but it's not necessary to actually set them up. They do a great job of managing the network on their own. Port settings can be inputted manually for games easily. The only negative I have is ALL the lights seem to be permanently on so it's difficult to see when your network is active or whether your internet connection has gone down. Hopefully this will be fixed in a later firmware update.

  • A breeze to set up and great value

I used to use a Netgear D7000 but as this does not have VOIP or phone connection I had to get a new Modem Router so as to be ready to switch from ADSL2 to FTTC NBN Broadband. Originally I had a nightmare time setting up the Netgear D7000 on ADSL2 using technical help to the highest level and a swap out. The TP-Link Archer VR600v was nothing like that. It was a breeze to set up on ADSL2 and fully worked first time. I was worried the WiFi range would be a problem but all my devices worked well so range is good in my large house. The management utility is also very easy to use and can be switched from Basic view, which is good, to advanced view if you want the real technical stuff. It had a good list of ISP's, mine included which have the configurations already built in ready for new install. The Ethernet ports are Giabit so they can run at 1000 Mbps which will be good for future plans of mine. I am very pleased with this purchase and recommend it as great value compared to some of my previous tech purchases.

  • Good product,complex user instructions.

It's a jolly good product made harder to set up by not having clear concise instructions on how to set it up.If they could just tabulate the actions to put it on the desk and go to 1)Do this.2) Do that.3) Do the next action.I think it would a lot easier to set up.I got it to work in a basic fashion but what took time was having to go to other websites to get enough information to change from Optus which I had been using and go down the list of countries and service providers in those countries and when I got to Australia all I did for the ISP was put in 'Other' and take it from there. There again life wasn't meant to be easy.

  • Solid, easy to set up, stable

Very easy to set up, excellent admin console. Comparing to the ASUS Blacknight router that was in use for ADSL, this has a slightly weaker 2.4 and 5g transmission distance but is very stable. At the right price and for quality - a bargain.

  • Great for NBN HFC

A great modem router to get you started on the NBN network. It just needed a bit of tweaking for my ISP Belong. Be sure to use the wireless router mode for the HFC technology type! Typically, the NBN box holds all the credentials for your internet already. Relatively easy and works a treat!

  • Modem works well. Voip could be easier to setup

Modem works well. Just a couple of niggles in the firmware. I use Aussie Broadband and they control the call waiting feature with the modem they supply. But this modem has no settings to turn call waiting off. So if you don't like call waiting and are with Aussie Broadband bad luck (default is on with them). Also they don't have the full Australian 5ghz channels available for wifi (only the lower channels). The phone ring is different too. Hasn't been changed to simulate Australia. So it is a overseas model quickly adapted for Australia. But saying that it is reliable and good build quality and I have no drop outs or loss of 5ghz wifi while streaming which great for me. I've had problems with other modems. I have informed TP-Link about the call waiting issue and they said they are looking into it.

  • Superb Product

This TP-Link product makes the unit I received from my ISP look positively amateurish. Easy to set up and ultra reliable. Once connected via Wi-Fi you stay connected. No drop outs, no rebooting several times, No disconnect then reconnect to access the internet and home network.

  • Good product for my home wi-fi. Value for money.

Good value for money product. Relatively straightforward to set up. Has the VOIP phone connection too which is handy.
