Cheap efficient way of expanding my home internet connection.
Purchased the TP link AV-600 with a little bit of apprehension that it would not work. I wanted to connect my older Foxtel cable box to the internet so i watch on demand programs. As i did not have an internet point in the theater room and the box does not have WiFi, i thought this might be a simple and cheap option. When it arrived it was as easy as ABC !! Plugged the units in and paired them up. Then i connected the supplied Ethernet lead to the router, then went to the theater room and connected the other supplied Ethernet lead to the Foxtel box. Turned on Foxtel and hey presto internet connection made, and downloaded a 1hr program in roughly 3 minutes. I was amazed!
GOOD POINTS;
Inexpensive.
Very easy to set up.
Discreet piece of equipment.
Supplied cables are plenty long enough.
Seems to work fine even tho instructions say they both have to be plugged into same electrical circuit (I live in a new build home if it makes any difference)
You add more TP-Links to the circuit if you need to.
NOT SO GOOD POINTS;
Even tho its small its still a squeeze to get the TP link in and another plug into the double power point.
You do lose a power point with it plugged in. There are other products that have a socket on them but you pay more.
Summary. The TP-Link AV600 is a great bit of kit and it did exactly what i wanted, a cheap and easy way of getting a good internet connection into another room without having to pay someone to run cables through my house and install internet points. Highly recommend.
