I have tested this lens in the following apertures: From f/2.8 to f/22. This is indeed a professional lens and incredibly sharp. On these tests, I have concluded that its optimal result of sharpness is at about f/8. It works very well on the APS-C cameras such as the Rebel T5i. The gradation between light and shadow is very smooth; smooth enough to please a critical professional. Also, this lens facilitates the camera's caption of true white and true black, where the black and white depict extensive details. The Canon T5i seems to reach its highest performance when it comes to capturing true color resolution with this lens. I do not sponsor any lens manufacturer. I am making this review only to help other photographers who are looking for a good, professional macro lens- this lens is worth the money I have paid for it. Photographers, please remember that the depth of field of this lens on APS-C versus Full Frame Cameras are not same. Of course, you will get more depth of field on the APS-C Cameras; that is, one can defocus the back ground better with a full frame camera. Congratulations TAMRON!!! Erli S. The Tamron VC 2.8 macro for Canon is one super optically sharp lens. Compared to the Canon 100mm 2.8 IS macro, this lens is to me every bit as sharp as the Canon. The difference in the price between the Tamron VC 90mm macro and the Canon IS 100mm macro makes this lens worth investigating if you are dollar conscience. It's control of chromatic aberration aids it in providing a sharp image and its vignetting is insignificant. If you want to get a more specific comparison or set of facts, I suggest you look up DXO lense comparisons to get all the particulars of how this lens will perform on your camera. I shoot weddings and use this lens for macro work with rings and close ups of other items. I additionally use the lens for portrait photography work when not doing portraits with my Tamron 70-200 VC 2.8. What's not to like about this lens? It is a great performer at a great price.Read full review
Live view does not work with my 6D Mark II but works with my T3i. The lens may need a firmware update but I will need to take or send the lens somewhere. I wrote to Tamron but have not heard back. Otherwise, the lens is OK. I have an old Vivitar 100mm macro lens. The Tamron is just a little sharper but has more (better) contrast and better color rendition.

It's a great lens that takes sharp pictures. I bought it for taking photos of things like insects and flowers and have taken some good pictures with it so far. I'm more than satisfied with my purchase!

Excellent macro lens. Lens is extremely sharp, provides excellent IQ. No CAs. Using with Viltrox adapter on Olympus body - all functions are working just perfect, including AF and aperture control.
