It was bright and cheerful with plenty of excellent performances. Transferred from the Broadway stage quite well. Debbie Reynolds fought hard to get this role and was fortunate that the first choice of MGM (Shirley Mc Laine) was unavailable at the time production commenced. It was her most favorite role and she threw all her energy into it. The first scene betrayed its stage roots and was very stagey, but most of the film was very entertaining. Its style is getting a little dated now. The last of the big Budget MFM musicals, that had its budget cut because of the excessive spending on the Movie Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

It is Debbie Reynolds at her most vivacious. Pure entertainment that leaves you feeling uplifted. Beautifully filmed, great soundtrack - a top quality production.

The movie is spectacular, however, this DVD is terrible. It has been printed on card and thrown in a plastic bag to look ‘new’. Pay extra, this copy is terrible.

I like that Molly Brown was a real person and it is her story. Debbie Reynolds was superb.

Grab your popcorn and put your feet up. A Movie that will appeal to all ages plus it contains singalong melodies and some very funny slapstick.
