I love History and especially 19th century America. I usually take my time to read any book, as I am retired and I like my life at its slow pace. This book was hard to put down. You thought about the book when you weren't actually reading it! The ending was unexpected and reveals just how clever the entire book is. Everyone should read this book!!

I a m on page 119, maybe it gets better but I can't get into it. I am used to reading time travel like 11//22/63, a much longer novel that I could just not put down. Maybe it will be more compelling soon. I just read "Skellig" in one sitting!

This book was written in 1970, and actually came recommended by Stephen King, which is why I bought it. I liked it. This same author wrote "Assault on a Queen," which I intend to buy. It was a fun movie. I just wish Jack Finney had updated this book to 2012 or so, the changes in the last 40 years would have been a lot more shocking to people of 1882. I really did not have any dislikes, and this should be considered a very good example of a Time-Travel novel.
I read body snatchers and then looked to see what else this author wrote and found time and away. They are both well written books with lots Of wonderful imagery.

This was a required book in my Contemporary Fiction class. This book started slow, was not nearly interesting enough to have so many details; then ended so poorly & without notice. It was like hitting a brick wall in a car; "BAM" wait, what just happened?! I was board to tears! If you LOVE details, then this book may be for you. However, if you like details, not just in the scenery, but in the climax of a story as well, this book may frustrate you just as it did me. Along with a "small" mystery, that started out interesting, came to a head & popped like a festering pimple (sloppy & painful), within one tiny sentence & no warning! Si left the apartment & when he returned, Julia knew who the bad guy was & that was that. She didn't explain how or why she came to this conclusion; then a few pages later the book ended just as poorly! The only thing the ending did was leave room for a sequel that did follow some years later; this, I have NO intentions of reading. Overall, the book was horrible, I would not recommend it to anyone, not even for punishment.Read full review
