Just inexcusable! Makes you wish they just didn't release it in the first place. A show about a radio station without the signature music?!!? What were they thinking? The conversation with Arthur and Johnny discussing the dog bark effects on Pink Floyd's "Dogs" is classic, and now it's gone. I will NOT be buying this, because even though these edits don't take up the majority of the shows, they do take away from the atmosphere and timeliness of the era the show originally had. Don't get me wrong, I love this show, but the way "I" grew up with it, and that included the songs, those classic songs. And some of the episodes are syndicated, cut versions? In this day and age of DVD entertainment, this is just insulting to the buying public. This classic show deserves more respect than this. They should have dished out the money and paid these musical artists what they deserve to keep the show originally intact and remastered the ORIGINAL broadcast prints, not these second generation edited tapes. Actually a simple task, but no. So, basically if this DVD set was a turkey (which in my opinion it is), it would hit the ground like a sack of wet cement.Read full review
I really enjoyed seeing this classic show once again. It's a shame that the other seasons are not available the same way. I have read that one of the biggest reasons is that the original WKRP shows used real and current (from those days) sound clips, being the music the disc jockeys would play. The cost of the licencing rights to those clips make it too prohibitive to release as originally aired. I believe in this boxed set "canned" songs were also substituted for the original music. Still it's great to see the original opening, Turkey's Away, a Fish Story, and other classics. Even with the inserted music, I still give it 2 thumbs up ! BONUS - there are some great interviews and behind the scene features as well.
WKRP in Cincinnati is a thoroughly watchable and enjoyable TV series. It never fails to make me laugh. The characters are very unique yet well-developed; the writing is superb, and the acting is top-notch, especially, the character played by Howard Hesseman called Dr. Johnny Fever. I highly recommend it to anyone!

I loved this show as a kid. A show about Rock N Roll and the radio station that delivers it to the fans. But this DVD does NOT deliver to the fans! The legal rights to many of the songs keep them off this season one DVD set. Why would an artist NOT want their music replayed on this show? Do they want more money? Or is it the record companies? All I know is that the music of the show WKRP is what MADE the SHOW truely ROCK....the music was the SHOW. But without the songs it does not make sense. It is like watching a puppet show with french sub titles. It just does not make any sense at all!
