I have a list of shows that where for the most part fun to see on the big screen and most also got rented... to cover the fact that I will want to see them or show them one day and I know that they will be only online rentals by then I buy them. Warm bodies is one of those films that I will always like. The story is about two star cross lovers who find that they are each on the other side in a world torn apart by a strange disease that leaves it victim in a zombie-like state. Amidst all of the stress and danger these two find a way to cure this illness that has put people at odds with loved ones and neighbors. It is a lighthearted treatment of the zombie apocalypse that lifts you up and leaves you with a smile on your face.

This movie is based upon the novel by Isaac Marion and is one of the few movies to actually be approved and begun before the book was published. Isaac is a genius for being able to write a zombie novel that is not your typical zombie story. Although there is some gore in the movie, the plot is about a zombie who falls in love with a living woman and does everything he can to protect her from his kind. Somehow his love for her triggers his body to begin to reactivate and become a living person again. Over the course of the movie, she also falls for him. Isaac has actually written a story that is both a tender and compassionate love story. No one before has tapped this window into the zombie world, and he really pulls it off admirably. And there is also some good humor in this movie as well. Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer turn in excellent performances as the main characters, and Rob Corddry is hilarious as Hoult's zombie sidekick, Malcolm. And of course, there's John Malkovich - who always gives you a great performance. I love the characters, I love the story, and that's why this is one of my favorite movies. Someone actually managed to make a zombie movie that is touching.Read full review

WARM BODIES takes parts of ROMEO AND JULIET, TWILIGHT, and EDWARD SCISSORHANDS and manages to craft something very different. It's not a comedy, although it has its humorous moments. Incredibly, Nicholas Hoult plays the zombie, R, as attractive and sensitive even though he speaks few words aloud. His eyes express volumes. The gore is minimal, and the ending is not obvious. Yes, we know that R and Julie fall in love...but will this end like ROMEO AND JULIET? TWILIGHT? EDWARD SCISSORHANDS? Any of the three outcomes are possible. Can Julie's father be trusted? What about R's zombie friend, M? This film offers interesting characters and a believable post-zombie-apocalypse world.
When I tell people its a zombie love story I get strange responses, but it really is! and the main guy is so darn cute! very funny, heart felt, scary, its got it all!!!!

Love between a zombie and a human - seriously? But that's exactly what happens, in a post-apocalyptic age, between "R," and Julie (the human in the twosome). And it works! "R" can't remember his full name, but is still somewhat in touch with his humanity. Enough so, that when he meets Julie following a slaughter, he feels protective toward her. Chemistry between them soon evolves into romance, and together they must find ways to navigate and survive a hostile world of zombies, out to get humans, "Boneys" (who kill humans AND zombies), and humans who kill zombies in a flash! "Warm Bodies" works because Julie and "R" are endearing, believable characters. You care about their romantic relationship and want to see them endure, despite their grisly world. This is a movie to be enjoyed on many levels - terrific entertainment, with a new twist and fresh look at the "zombie invasion."Read full review
