The stock ear tips that came with my Shure headset seemed a bit too small, and had a tendency to slip out of my ears any time I moved. These ear tips fit more comfortably, they stay in the ear, and there's no degradation of the sound quality. I recommend them.

The headphones come with 10 (5 of each) pairs of foam and silicone tips (including the ones already in use), a great cleaning tool and a very nice carrybag equipped with a zipper. Migrating from my old broken down Sennheiser CX 400-II's, I must say the soundquality is much better already, straight out of the box, even without burning them in at all. If you're a "basshead" or a person who doesn't really listen to music a whole lot, you should maybe go for something different/less expensive, though. I'm not saying the bass is non-existent, but these headphones focus on the overall quality of music more, rather than just having tremendous bass. With the wide variety of foam and silicone tips provided, you'll surely find the perfect fit. The silicone ones might be a bit easier to get in and out of your ears quickly, but I found the isolation and comfort to be better on the foam pieces. I can easily wear the headphones for many, many hours in a row without any pain or irritation. This is just a personal preference, though, and you would have to try out both tips for yourself. Some might find the silicone ones better overall. The buildquality is great, the cord feels strong (I have the black/smoke version of the headphones, which apparently have a different cord from the white ones.) and doesn't tangle easily, the earpieces feel solid, robust and overall of very high quality. My only gripe with these would probably be how slow it is to take them out and put them back into my ears while using the foam tips. If you want to buy some audiophile-grade headphones for a relatively low price, these are a very good option.Read full review
I previously owned and used a pair of UM1's for several years up until the right ear becoming intermittent recently. Not surprising considering the number of times I've pulled and snagged these on my head-worn mic, clothing or or credential laniard. These are actually pretty rugged. Much of what I listened to was voice or TV broadcast audio, which included some music and tape replay, and they sound quite clear in loud environments. When I got these new ones I was reminded that I needed to experiment with several of the supplied tips to get the best sound seal and fit. The shorter supplied gray foam tips were comfortable but got loose as I moved around and did not seal outside sound well. The longer supplied tips feel like they extend into my eardrum and are uncomfortable and still did not seal. It's all individual ear-independent. From previous experiences, not a fan of the rubber/silicone tips also provided. I ended up using some other fatter but shorter compatible foam tips I had purchased elsewhere that seemed to seal outside sound better and were most comfortable. For listening to music these blow away cheap earbuds BUT I needed to go into my MacBook Pro and iPhone settings and change the EQ to get more low end and the best sound due to the single armature design. Great on the MacBook with full EQ settings but only so-so on the iPhone or iPod since I could only choose from preset EQs and not fully customize it to sound as good. I'm not a musician and never used them for stage in-ear music monitoring but I'm thinking my experiences are somewhat applicable. Getting a good outside sound isolation seal is tantamount. If you are looking exclusively for music listening there are better (although more expensive) options available. (Try the UM2 dual armature as I almost went for this time). For the price, especially the under $100 deal I got , these provide exactly what I need for my purposes.Read full review
Excellent headphones set by Sony, just the way we humans are designed to hear things: IN STEREO!!! These are good and durable if you do not have it all the time attached to your unit and inside your pockets. Cool design! A health note: Clean it before each use with alcohol in order to avoid ear infections.
