Bougth this fish-eye for a Canon 5D Mark II. This is an impressive piece of glass, quite heavy, all manual except that a chip was added on the Canon mount by the seller to confirm the focus on Canon bodies : even though its dept of field is very important, I found this option quite useful anyway. Here are my test results on my 5D2: (tripod, raw format, neutral, then usual sharp mask in Photoshop CS3 : 125/1/3) - f/2.8 almost unusable - f/4 same bad result, very soft, hard to see a difference with f/2.8 - f/5.6 becomes surprisingly sharp in the center of the field, but still soft in the corners - f/8 sharp all over the field of view - f/11 even sharper, by far its best aperture - f/16 same as f/8; micro diffraction begins because of my full frame sensor with too many pixels; I guess it would give a better result on a 5D1; I didn't try f/22. For my first pictures outside, I use f/11 whenever possible. Setting the aperture ring to 2.8 to achieve focus and then come back to f/11 to actually take the picture is rather annoying of course since it takes time, but using a fish-eye means that you must be careful with your picture composition, therefore it takes time anyway ! (and I found easier to use manual mode (M) on the body too). But results are great ! I definitely love this lens, it's a bargain at such a price (1/4th of the Canon or Sigma equivalent ! without autofocus of course). And I love on the lens cap the "made in russia" which gives style ! Now in french (my native language)... Read full review
My copy of the lens came with few issues, the lens came with a m42 to nex adapter (which was never advertised) which did not position the lens correctly on my A7. one of the screw on the actual m42 rear mount was crooked, there were finger prints on the back lens filter. Lucky they were easy fix. I unscrewed and re screwed the rear crooked screw. The lens hood was coming in the shot , the way it was positioned. I had to unscrew the 3 screws that were holding it in place and tilt it slightly to make sure the petal part of the hood was vertical and not coming in the shot anymore. it seems is 14mm vertically and 12mm horizontally, when attached to modern cameras.
untouched picture nice sharp contrast

great lens, not too heavy on the curve which is why I made the purchase in the first place. The ability to really disassemble the lens and clean it is a plus to me and the filters provided actually work very well when shooting video with it. The lens flaring colors are really brilliant thanks to the coating of the glass. Over all a good buy.
It's nice! Much better than I expected! My camera is 550D, not so professional. So it works as a super-wide angle on my Canon 550D. Anyway, I like it.
