The one that I bought was damaged. But, still, the yamaha Yas23 clearly beats every single sax made in China and most student saxes made in the U.S. It is sturdy, good sounding, excellently engineered, can be repaired with ease. I recommend buying a secondhand Yas23 for about $550 AUD. You won't regret it. If you spend less on something made in the people republic, you'll most likely make your child's life difficult. And have to fork out for more regular repairs. That is, if they can be repaired. Or if the tech will even work on it.

Jupiter and the Keilwerth ST90 Series are just as well made but they have a far better tone and a far superior action. And can generally be had far cheaper than the way over priced Yamaha 23 models.
