    Yep. This works.

Makes repairing incandescent light strings not just possible but potentially quick. While the trigger-method hasn't worked for me yet, I've fixed 6 strings in less time than ONE used to take. The beeper is fairly effective in finding where the voltage stops... unless there are too many stops. The bulb tester is a life saver in determining if you actually found the problem. The frustration mounts when a string has done a cascade failure and most or all the bulbs are bad, but you still reach that "throw it away" decision much sooner with much less suspicion that you were one bulb away from success. If you have to deal with more than a couple strings each year and you don't have one of these, you are crazy. Or will be.

    Light keeper pro

It sort of works sometimes I thought one valuable feature was the bulb tester but it only works sometimes. I tested a bulb that was good and it did not light when put in tester. I put it back in set and it was a good bulb lit just fine

  • Lots of features, worth it for the bulb puller alone

The bulb puller and tester worked well. Fuse tester and voltage meter seemed to work well also, but I never could get the two non-lighting strands on my pre-lit tree to work. Lots of good written information was helpful. According to that, I had too many missing bulbs on those strands for too long, so the whole strand was done.

  • Very important instructions...not currently given.

What is lacking in your instructions is for the user to insure that the plug on the string of lights is plugged in (it's not polarized) so that the hot wire goes to the light filament and not the return wire. Since the beeper only works off of a static charge, if the plug is inverted the machine will NOT beep at any lights since the ground wire has no charge. If they are not aware of this they have a 50% chance of getting the device to work.

  • Easy to Use

Bought this because of multiple problems with at least ten strands of lights. This device saved me countless hours tracking down the many issues. A fantastic assistant! It made short work of my issues. All of the features worked flawlessly. I was unlucky to have no problem solved by the "shunt" approach, so I do not know if that feature works effectively. All of the other tests/checks worked. It is well worth the cost.

  • Works great

I have a light string the has clusters of grape lights bound together. I was able to isolate the clusters that had bad lights by using the contiunity feature of the device. The problem was that the one of the two thin wires on the bad bulbs was missing. That is why the trigger mecanism did not work since power could not get to the filament of each defective bulb. The continuity feature allowed me to find the bad cluster then I was able to test each of the ten bulbs with the bulb tester of the device. It saved me from pitching the whole string. I cant speak to the trigger part of the device but the continuity and bulb testing features worked perfectly.

  • Definitely a $ Saver

This thing is great. It takes some practice to use it, but once you get the hang of it, you'll definitely save some money with it. I had a middle section of lights burned out and it turns out a bulb had two broken base wires. Instead of having to remove every bulb from that section, this saved time and money of throwing the strand out and replacing it. Rated 4/5 stars due to it not being intuitive to use it. Also, the bulb tester on top, you have to press down pretty hard.

  • It teaches

For those that got a tree with the one time lights it is perfect. For those that wanted to fix crazy icicle lights it works good. For those trying to fix the shrub ( in a blanket) lights good luck as per the design of the lamps. It is a good device, buy one and have at it!

  • Light Keeper Pro Tool

I was skeptical but I figured for the money, it might save me some frustration. The first set of lights I tried it on was a double set and only half were lit. I tried the "shunt repair" option first with no result. So then used the "voltage detection" option. It is a little tricky because it's not an absolute method but it will get you in the vicinity. But having the onboard bulb tester takes the guess work out of finding the bad bulb. The second set of lights were also only half lit. This time, 3 pulls of the trigger repaired the shunt and we were back in business. With Christmas coming, this will be the handiest tool in the house!
