Excellent Model: Case Study: more than a year Advantages: Stability. Functionality. Practicality. In fact, the phone itself - sheer virtue of its owner. Of the key features that I personally use regularly - iPod, game, Safari (this review I am writing once again with the iPhone yet), Stanza (a program for reading books), and various office applications from the AppStore - "TV Guide" - a program TV, "NewsDay" - news from around the world with all the details, "Awesome Note" - Notes, scoring lectures there, very conveniently, you can scatter them into folders. And there are small applications that make your life easier and simpler - the sea. But there are also applications and the giant: "MusicStudio" - a program for writing music. No, not properly configured. A full-featured program for writing music, PhotoShop express - needs no introduction. If we formulate all of the above in one sentence - the AppStore is all that you just might need. Courses in English, GPS-card applications for the formation of its program of fitness, frivolous applications for tomfoolery (changes in those voice distortion, etc.). In any sphere of life will help you iPhone. Just do not skimp on the unlimited internet, it is really needed;) Disadvantages: The main drawback - since it is impossible to use a different phone) For detail, of course, there is, but here they would think ... Oh yeah, I remember. One must be very careful when replacing the SIM card, as well as between the SIM card slot and the screen, no caps, respectively, it is very easy to place the dust on the glass. For work has no effect, but the eyes calluses. Comment: I would say so. iPhone - a Porsche from the world of mobile phones. You can not love Porsche, but you can not say that this is a bad car, because it worked on the genius of his business, he invested in a variety of means, the car has the appropriate status and place in history. Same thing with the iPhone - you can hate it, find it a bunch of imaginary faults, but to call it a bad phone - simply silly. Beautiful, stable, reliable. Simply the best. The rest - think for yourself. I hope my review will be useful to someone. Thank you for your attention.Read full review
First, a few words about my eBay purchase experience. I have owned all versions of iPhone (multiple copies for each actually), none of them is direct purchase from AT&T or Apple: I hate the contract imposed on cell phone users. As a results, I always look for eBay to buy used but mint condition goods such as iPhone or other gadgets. You can always get good deal if you are patient. This new 3GS 32GB is no exception I got it for less than $600 merely a months after its release. While it looks expensive comparing the "official" price of $300, but I am free of the contract of over $400 for the next two years! The phone is exactly the same as the 3G version, but I like the new features such as compass and larger storage (32GB). It is also significantly faster than my "retiring" 3G 16GB version. The major complain gets to be the battery life. I suffered a battery life loss when converting from 2G to 3G, but this 3GS is even worse: I can barely use it free of charge for two days under normal condition (couple of phone calls, couple of GPS mapping, and 30 min also web browsing and email checking). Still, I think it is an evolution of iPhone platform growing on the right track. Never missed my "berry" phone anymore, and Google phone? No way, no how, no Android, for now! ;-)Read full review
Ok, I have wrote a review on buying used IPhones from Ebay " http://catalog.ebay.com/Apple-iPhone-3G-8-GB-Black-AT-T-/71354345/r.html?_fcls=1 " and now, I'm here to give you my opinion regarding IPhone 3Gs 32GB WHITE, I have been an owner for this phone for almost 3 months, and I'm taking a very good care of it as it's like my own baby, but, as any cell phone, each has it's cons and pros, so, let me start with the advantages as all of other people do :) PS: This is only my PERSONAL point of view. 1. LCD: Clear, big (but not the biggest), very sensitive and double touch :) (gestures) 2. BIG Memory Yup, I love having big memory for movies and games. 3. Very funny applications Despite I'm working in software industry, but, this cell phone (as I must say and repeat it again and again) rocks by it's software, you can install hundreds of software and the phone will never come slow (unless you messed up :) ) 4. Easy to use, if you are a Nokia (or other brand) user, you will take some time to get to use to it, and when you do, you will never will return to Nokia again :). (PS: I have used plenty of brands with different types of Cell phones Operating systems). 5. Cool Camera :), I like it even from the 3G model but, with the 3Gs, you can record VIDEO :) wow. If all the previous features are great so, What's is not COOL then, actually, I have some :), 1. Many functions are missing, for example, you can't send files through bluetooth, Even there are some software that tries to solve this issue, but, still NO NATIVE Support, if you have international numbers starts with 00 not (+), the Iphone won't give you the caller's name, and so on. 2. Apple domination, I mean, if you want to install some software that doesn't exists on Apple Stores, basically, you can't, you will need to JAILBREAK it to install it, I don't know why Apple do that, even if it is not legal software the reliability goes on the user, that's doesn't mean I install illegal software, I actually try the "lite" versions and if I like it, I buy it. 3. ITunes still not very professional when comes to IPhone, there are some good software (free) that gives uses a very good control over their IPhones like "IPhone PC Suite". 4. Unlocked version, is so expensive, when compared to other High end devices. After all, I can't give this device less than 4 stars actually, I wanted it 5 :) but, I can't All the best.Read full review
We have sold numerous iPhone/Touch accessories on eBay over the last couple of years, without actually buying the main product. Our son, who has ATT service, recently upgraded his phone to the 3GS for $199.00 with 2 year contract and $40 data plan. I took a different path. Being with a T-Mobile, I upgrade to a tough and durable Sony Ericsson TM506 3G flip phone for $0 with 2 year contract and $5.99 T-zones legacy unlimited data plan. It has GPS, 3G data, bluetooth, media, microSD expansion, 2MP still/video camera, full media player/editors, Java apps (Opera browser, world cam, remote, etc.) and voice notes/dialing; all, in a PSP style interface. Then I picked up a used 2nd gen iPod touch on eBay for under $100, to participate in the iTunes/iStore functionality. I am not a fan of the big and clunky iTunes, nor Apple's over controlling device mandates. I have had better experiences over the years downloading and installing Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian and Java apps, as well as media files. However, restoring a device's firmware via iTunes is nice, compared to the sometimes dicey firmware updates of other devices. Second to iTunes, we downloaded Total Commander with the T-PoT.1.1 plug-in to browse the Touch/iPhone contents via USB. I rank the iTunes experience as comparable to that of Windows Mobile ActiveSync. Don't get me wrong, the 3GS is a marvel of tech, but so are Android and other devices. The Apple touchscreens are easily broken, witness all the broken Touch/iPhone units on eBay. Coupled that with Apple's extreme warranty policies and ATT's horrible pricing, the choice was easy for me. I wanted a rough and tumble, drop it regularly, that is easy to replace - without breaking the bank, full featured phone. And, I wanted a mobile, full featured, big screen and sweet interface media and internet device. Now, I have both. We have notebook and netbook devices for more mission critical efforts. The iPad will probably be my wife's second device of choice. More of a sofa appliance, not as portable as the Touch.Read full review
Bought an iPhone 3GS - 32GB. Its a great phone. And this is coming from a guy who switches phones more than he has fingers on his body. Overall a good buy. The screen is awesome. It is bright and clear. The 3MP camera provides decent pictures and good video, but I've seen better. The battery life utterly does suck. I hit 20% in 4 hours of use, which is horrible compared to my HTC. The iPhone iOS definitely is the BEST mobile OS around, with Android close behind it and Windows Phone 7.5 running in 3rd. Pros: JOIN THE iPHONE CLUB! DECENT SCREEN RES DECENT CAMERA LOTS OF APPS! :D Cons: Small screen: only a 3.5 Seen better cameras VERY EXPENSIVE when bought at a store Multi-tasking kinda sucks Overall: a good buy. I highly recommend this phone, but if you want a better iPhone, go with the iPhone 4S (more expensive but, your choice! :] )Read full review
I've owned all iterations of the iPhone--and this is by far the one I was most impressed with. The switch from the 3g-- 3gS puts the previous 1st-- 3g jump to shame. The 3gS variants are almost identical to the previous 3G iPhones. The major changes are NOT cosmetic in nature. The CPU has been improved from 412mhz to 600mhz, the ram has been doubled, a new graphics chip has been installed (providing OpenGL support), a new camera, and an internal compass has been built in (see more). Sadly, there is STILL no 3rd party routing software available--google maps is sufficient though. Thoughts: 3G vs. 3G S 1. The battery life for both is rather similar. SLIGHT improvement in the 3G S. 2. The LCD digitizer (touchscreen) is practically the same with both editions--3G seems brighter. 3. Dimensions and case sizes are nearly identical--3G S is a bit thinner. The engravings on the back are different, but you're getting the same pretty case from the 3G. 4. Unaided GPS (without AT&T tower assistance) is just about as weak in both models... but the 3G S sports an internal compass, allowing for amazing accuracy and directional navigation while hiking and "street-walking". Hands down, the best new addition to the 3G S. 5. The new CPU and graphics chip combine for SIGNIFICANTLY decreased loading times when partaking in both graphically intensive gaming, and everyday activities (web browser loading). In games, this contributes to increased frame rates which are highly noticeable. 6. The internal camera has been boosted from a paltry 2mp to an adequate 3mp. It's not spectacular, but it's in line with current offerings. It features autofocus, which is a very nice addition. FINALLY, users have built-in video recording capability without going to extreme lengths. What is disturbing about this model: 1. Do NOT let it overheat. Make sure you keep it charged in a cool location with sufficient airflow. This means DON'T put it on fabric. Don't overcharge, and be sure to inspect (check for overheating) regularly. The first time it overheats (it will be HOT to the touch), the battery output will GREATLY diminish (1/2 to 1/3 capacity), and should be changed through Apple. 2. There is NO apple-supplied application for checking and resetting the iPhone battery. This is provided for MacBooks, but not the iPod line 3. As with all iPhone models, buy a case--a Zagg InvisibleShield to protect it from scratches and the odd bump/bruise--or a silicone case--I highly recommend a screen protector. iPhones are FRAGILE (see below). 4. Internal components are flush with the case, and simple dents will cause components/features to fail. 5. DO NOT attempt to open ANY iPhone model for repair if you do not have experience--the cases/trim are prone to dents/bends, and you are likely to scratch/damage internal components if you attempt to replace the digitizer or battery yourself (the most common repairs). It is better to take them directly to Apple stores for repair. 6. Based on who you talk to, Apple will ONLY honor the 1 year manufacturer warranty if the iPhone is linked to an AT&T contract. If you have Jailbroken/Unlocked your iPhone, reset it to factory firmware and specifications before attempting to deal with Apple Repair. 7. No external HD capacity detected--camera only. 8. You have to deal with iTunes to activate and sync music. 9. Still no front-based camera for video-conferencing... very important to business users. Hope this helpedRead full review
This is one of the best phones that I have had so far. The App mall is enormous. The speed on the phone is good. Battery life is good if you take into account that it is using the web and apps and that takes up a good deal of battery. Even with that your still getting 5-6 hours out of it. The autofocus on the camera is a really cool feature allowing you to instantly clarify any object in the viewscreen so that it comes out looking nice. I do wish that there was a zoom feature on the camera though. The ability to crop video that you have recorded on the phone is awesome. I would definetly recommend this phone to anyone that is looking for something that allows you to stay informed with email, text, social networking, browse the web and read up on news and etc., capture that special or funny moment with kids or pets, play games, listen to music, watch tv and movies, and that is tired of there so called "smart phone" freezing up on them and the general lack of user friendliness that comes along with that. All in all a very well made phone.Read full review
Please see also read my reviews of the iPhone 1.0 & 3G I've owned a cellphone since 1992. I've always had a "top of the line phone" (I've always had AT&T = formerly Cingular = formerly BellSouth Mobility) In 17 years having cellphones, I've had over 100 (Yes 100+) different models & makes The iPhone uses GSM - an international standard technology for cellphones. Verizon & Sprint use CDMA (& variants) - this technology is found in very few places widespread outside the USA & Europe. One minor hardware complaint about the iPhone has been addressed by Apple - the new iPhone 3GS has an oil resistant coating - making it easier to clean and less "smudgeable" The 3.0 iPhone OS is very stable. The addition of copy & paste, video, & tethering make "jailbreaking" completely unnecessary (Tethering is promised by AT&T in the US later) I haven't had signal issues w/ many phones, it's always clumsy interfaces. Every phone I've ever had, no matter how long I've had it - I've had a problem placing a call on hold & answering another call or joining a call into a 3-way. The iPhone interface is so well designed features are clearly labeled - I don't have that problem I had an HP iPaq 6515 - I hated the keyboard. (Which is similar in design to Palm & Blackberry smartphones w/ physical keyboards) Physical keyboards on cellphones are hard to see, crowded w/ characters & difficult to use w/ my large fingers. iPhone users should try the pogo stylus if they have issues, but give it it time - you will become proficient within a few weeks The camera on my iPhone 1.0 & 3G was great. The camera on the new iPhone is stunning though. I see myself taking even more pictures. I use the HP iPrint app to print my photos out. The side by side comparison is noticeable from the 1st gen iPhone camera. The viewfinder & capture buttons are crystal clear. It's easy to transfer photos from iPhone to computer for editing Unlike most smartphones - that have Windows Mobile, the iPhone has an intuitive interface that's easy to understand & navigate. There's no need to read a manual; it's just simple to understand. A Blackberry makes me ask, "where do I go?" & "what do I do?"" The iPhone 3GS has a faster processor (600Mhz vs 433Mhz) & more RAM (256MB vs 128MB). This makes the iPhone 3GS feel significantly snappier. Because an iPhone uses standard iPod sync & charge cables, accessories are easy to find. Battery life is very good & improved from the previous generations of iPhones; even when utilizing power draining features like Wifi & Bluetooth. I can actually use the calculator on an iPhone, unlike on other cell phones where you have to figure out corresponding keys The Google Maps feature is amazing w/ the ability to use satellite data, the addition of the compass & GPS pinpoints your location w/ amazing accuracy & even better than dedicated GPS devices. The GPS integration w/ LocateMe is awesome My complaints: - Edge data network is acceptable & what I have to connect to the most often but I still have to pay for 3G data access = $10 more each month - FM transmitters don't work well due to interference - AT&T has limited some features (at least initially) The new iPhone is definitely worth the upgrade. I now have enough room to back up the important parts of my hard drive to the iPhone, thanks to the 32GB capacity. I have right at 8GB of music & 6GB of pictures, text message, apps, etc - so the 32GB model will come in handy for meRead full review
The iPhone 3GS finally adds common cell phone features like multimedia messaging, video recording, and voice dialing. It runs faster; its promised battery life is longer; and the multimedia quality continues to shine. The iPhone 3GS' call quality shows no improvements and the 3G signal reception remains uneven. We still don't get Flash Lite, USB transfer and storage, or multitasking. The iPhone 3GS doesn't make the same grand leap that the iPhone 3G made from the first-generation model, but the latest Apple handset is still a compelling upgrade for some users. The iPhone 3GS is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement.
