The Nokia 6300 runs on Nokia's enhanced S40 user interface. The difference between that and the un-enhanced S40 user interface on the 6133, is this runs on less memory. The 6300 is a very usable device. But it is not as capable as it might have been. Here are the specifications: Volume: 56 cc Weight: 91 g Length: 106.4 mm Width: 43.6mm Thickness (max): 13.1mm It's over four inches long and under two inches wide. That is in its favor. Much of that footprint is eaten up by colorful and fairly vibrant LCD. So, large screen, decent size, not too heavy. It's thin, it's stainless steel. That's all good. +5/5 points for physicality Mobile Bands 6300 - GSM/EDGE coverage (900/1800/1900) RM-217 6300b - GSM/EDGE coverage (850/1800/1900) RM-222 Triband GSM is all that is available. Asia/Europe models (RM-217) are going to be set to 900 MHz. How will you know if you have one of those Hong Kong or Helsinki sourced handsets? Look at the battery label. 900MHz models will have RM-217 on them. The 850 MHz models suitable for North American use will have RM-222 on the battery label. +2.5/5 being able to use it for making phone calls Media 2 megapixel camera with 8x zoom Full screen viewfinder Video recorder and player Music player supporting MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, H.263, H.264 FM stereo radio Java: MIDP 2.0 Macromedia Flash Lite 2.0 for richer digital content This is a pretty good line up. The 2 megapixel camera is a good performer in outdoor light and in many indoor situations. Take a moment to adjust the white balance to get very pleasing skin tones under fluorescent lights. Video is limited to a small size that does not come close to filling the 240 x 320 screen. The amount of compression used, even on high quality, leads to a lot of artifacts in the images. This is mobile phone video the way you remember it being, not the way you wish it was. The radio is excellent. Games run on it without incident. +4/5 for media No Thanks for the Memory Up to 7.8 MB internal user memory microSD card up to 2GB This is almost as small as the memory in the 6103, It will not allow you to move copyrighted material on the phone to the memory card to free up additional space on the phone. Limits Internet and MMS profiles. You change SIMs frequently? Watch out! +2 for memory So, this phone ends up with a 13.5/20 for standard stuff. But, there is more to it than that. Not All Is Doom and Gloom If you do not push your handsets to their limits you could grow attached to the 6300. It has a very subtle glow to it when you receive a call or a text. The speaker phone, not the clearest on the planet is loud enough to use in the car. The wired headset jack is the Nokia 2.5 standard jack and not the Pop-Port. The typeface is very easy to read and is large enough even for middle aged eyes like mine. If you want a nice looking and fully functional phone for a 1900 MHz network any of these 6300 handsets will work. These are fairly common on eBay. In the coming months as the 6301 model (see my guide) becomes more common the 6300/6300b may drop in price. If you need to use one on an 850 MHz network make sure it is a 6300b (RM-222) that has the 850 MHz band.Read full review
This is Nokia doing its best to produce a phone a good all around reasonably priced phone and the results are very impressive. A nice slim design; easy-to-use keypad; color display, and good user interface that makes the phone easy to use. It It is not the most advanced handset Nokia makes, but is does have good design good features and is very durable. I have dropped mine several times with no damage. A few things are lacking and could be corrected; no 3G connectivity and no flash for the camera and a lack of auto focus.
To me, Nokia finally did everything right with this phone. Build quality is top notch with the stainless steel. The phone is small and thin, while still feeling solid. The screen is bright, color is outstanding and still visible in the sunlight. UI is quick and organized with S40 3rd edition. The keypad is solid but low, which takes some getting used to.The 2MP camera is good enough for most applications (ie screwing around with impromptu pics, multimedia etc)- it's a little noisy in low light though. Ring volume is loud. MP3 player is great, mp3 ringtones are easy and sound great. My only 2 complaints are 1) the voice recorder files playback at very low volumes. Its hard to make ringtones with them. That wasnt a problem with my previous nokias. 2) The other problem is battery life but that is managable.I only turn on Bluetooth when needed, and can get 3 days with a full charge on low to moderate usage, 2.5 days with moderate. My particular phone has no bugs. Overall I am very pleased with this phone. I love it! It literally does EVERYTHING that I want my cell phone to do. It's a great budget mid-level phone that shines in a lot of areas. I recommend it to everyone.Read full review
I bought the nokia 6300 because it an holds two sim cards. One for business and one for personal. But the batt life is terrible,if you only use one sim card batt, life improves, but defeats the reason why I bought It. I carry an extra batt with me and use a high capacity batt as primary. But still very hard on batt. I work in a noisy enviroment. I need a loud ringer this has a loud ringer. I dont use the camera. Don't even know if it works don't care I want a phone not a toy. The chrome case although looks nice scratchs easy. But its small and easy to carry in my jacket pocket. Reception is good like most nokia bar phones. Next time they design one you can make a little thicker so you can hold a very big batt.
this cell phone is in good condition, works and functions as it should this is phone worth buying and would make a great gift. camera on the phone could have been better. the screen or the icons should have been bigger but all the same its small and designed to be slim and used for whats its needed for the wi-fi i can't complain internet in a hot spot while on the go! technology has come a long way and still moving forward the question is whats next.
It's beautiful. No one on the West Coast has it. It's a pretty quick UI with a brilliant screen. 2" display could be bigger, but who wants bigger when dealing with a small device? Oxymoron, I think. If you enjoyed the 6230 or the 6233 or any other small, sleek, slim, and multi-function candy bar phone from Nokia, you'll like this one.
nokia 6300 is a great slim and sexy phone. It got all the basics that you need, from having a good 2megapixel resolution camera to taking good video capabilities. It also has a radio, mp3 player, internet browser and its easy to use.We all know that nokia has always been user friendly.
Solid and durable phone. Large display and functions are easy to use. Excellent phone and camera. Rheajb
The sleek thin design is definitely a plus. Quick UI and good camera are also great functions on the phone. However the key pad is small and makes it difficult to text at times if one were to have big hands like my own. The speaker is great and quite loud. Also the battery life was quite impressive.
Great phone as said brand new excellent features very easy to use had an other one exactly the same and wanted to replace it for a new one in black works heavenly, quick post highly recommend it
