I have been trying to teach a person how to Tat and these shuttles are a lot easier to teach her how to Tat with. I also prefer them over the plastic shuttles with longer pointed almost needle like points to make the stitches with. Yesterday she watched me begin making a pattern as she ate dinner, snd was startled how easy it was for me to make a beginning design. She had been considering quitting to try tatting before watching me begin with the metal shuttles with standard old fashioned setting. Now she wants to Tat again!!!!!

I usually try to keep 5 tatting shuttles at all times because I wear them out with the removable bobbin. These shuttles have removable metal bobbins which I replace with plastic sewing machine bobbins because they hold more thread. The hook comes in handy to join stitches and to pick out mistakes. Just the right size and smooth to work with. Added review on 7-8-17. The new shuttles I bought recently are made in China - before they were Made in the USA. The shuttles seem to be the same quality except a little stiffer. My USA shuttles have a PAT APR 17 '23 on them. Things change.

Exactly what I was looking for! The older metal tatting shuttles, with bobbins, are still the best. Newer ones are not nearly as smooth to maneuver, especially with finer threads. Great price too.

The old stock Boye shuttle came on & was in perfect condition. It has an excellent finish & feel & I'll be tatting with it soon.
