This is a nice quality reel for $75.00. I have $200.00 reels that don't cast any better than this Shimano. I love the small profile and light weight of this Caenan. With a gear ratio of 7.2:1, I can rip any bait as fast as I need to. I had to get used to the hidden magnetic braking system which is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. There are a couple of nice YouTube videos which show how to adjust the braking. Most of my current reels have a dial on the outside of the side plate to accomplish these settings. The positive part of having a smooth left outer plate is it is much more comfortable on my left palm. The drag system seems adequate but I have yet to really challenge it with a huge fish. I will let you know if there are any issues when that time comes!!! LOL Again, for the fisherman on a small budget who wants a quality built baitcaster for everyday fishing, the Shimano Caenan 150 does the job.Read full review

Out of the box this reel cast like a dream. With only a little adjustment it will impress you. Unfortunately after taking the side cover off you will see that the internals are very cheaply made. The complete brake system is made out of plastic and not the good stuff either. We are talking fisher price. They even give you a little bag of extra plastic brake shoes... 😂

I fished with baitcasting reels since shimano bantam 100. I bought many reels from different companies. This is best for the price. It is easy to cast, light, smooth, and I can cast far. The drag is smooth. I messed around with the break and I would just leave two on. Don't touch it specially in the dark. Don't open the case either. Just keep on fishing. Have fun. Thank you to people that made it and thank you to the people sold it too me.

Had to replace a baitcaster before a recent fishing trip. The 7.2:1 retrieve ratio made this a good replacement to throw spinnerbaits. I have had many baitcasters over the past 50 years. Over the past 15 years the Shimanos I've owned have been the best performing and most trouble-free reels I've ever owned. So when a reel needs replaced, I replace it with a Shimano. At this stage, I won't likely be replacing any of my Shimanos in my lifetime.

Great purchase, starting with packaging. Everything was in place. The reel is perfect, just what I wanted and for a good price.
