wiring was a concern before fitting but found no problems quite painless really
I was surprised as to how similar this engine was to the you tube video I watched on the replacement of a briggs and stratton engine for example the bolt holes needed to have a thread put in so this was also done on this engine fitted in no trouble at all more impressed by that fact.

Cheap option to the B&S motors.
I replaced my old 12.5HP B&S with this 16HP Loncin motor. I figured that B&S are over priced for what you get and your only paying for the sticker on the motor. This Loncin is a direct fit and lined up perfectly with the 12.5HP holes. Due to size the 16HP motor is a tight fit under the hood of the ride on mower however there is just enough room for air flow. The cage around the muffler had to be removed so it could fit. Wiring on the mower had to be modified to suit. This was a brain teaser as there are NO wiring instructions with the Loncin motor. Ive bought Jono & Jono and Iketa motors in the past and they all have wiring instructions which makes hooking up the motor a no brainer. I am yet to find a way to wire the ride on for charging of the battery. It appears there is NO charging wire from the magneto on the Loncin even though one would assume that the Loncin would have the capability especially as its a modern advanced motor. Overall the motor seems solid enough. It cut long grass with ease but new blades have something to do with this as well. I feel the engine could rev a bit harder but it has been tuned back so it doesnt rev as high as it can. For the price the motor does suffice and the extra HP compared to brands like B&S is a definite plus and a much cheaper option for an upgrade. A good strong motor to replace no-longer-available US offerings.
For a cheap Chinese engine ($AU574 delivered), the build quality looked good. The install was in a Ariens 1340G ride-on, replacing a battered and beaten 13hp Tecumseh OHV130. Most bolt -on parts mated up (throttle, drive pulleys, chassis); just a quick modification of exhaust and wiring, some oil and fuel and it fired right up. I should mention that I checked the tune before installation (pickup gap, spark-plug gap and valve lash, and everything was spot on! After a quick run in (about 20 minutes up and down on the throttle) it was time to throw it at some long wet grass to load it up at bit. Motor was strong and pretty much effortless cutting on the governor. By all reports the Loncin seem a capable and good value replacement.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
