These shears work very well for cutting soft materials including copper wire and HO gauge brass model RR track. In the past I managed to break the blade off a pair by trying to use them on some material that was much to large - but that was my fault - not the shears. When used properly, they stay sharp, provide a very precise cut and and last a long time. These Xuron 2175 shears are essential for my electronic hobby.

I've used a lot of different flush cutting tools over the years. These by far have been my go to cutters. They hold an edge well (as long as you don't try cutting hard wire or steel items like nails, screws and such). I even use a pair for a totally off list use, they are excellent nail clippers! For electronics use the way they shear the wire leaves it very flush. My only complaint is that the spring could be a bit stronger to make them lock into your hand.
