Versatile MP3 Player
I like this MP3 Player [32GB SD card capacity, direct access to up to 9,999 songs via remote, random play feature, fast forward, remembers last song played and automatically starts there, remembers last mode setting like random play, digital volume control, pause, displays track number and song title, can display folder titles]. The player has a durable remote for the MP3 player with “direct TV” type buttons rather than “microwave oven” type buttons, (I have used this remote for over three years with no problems). I use this player to play MP3 files although it can play WAV files if you want.
I like the preamplifier section [headphone output (no audible noise with Sennheiser HD580 headphones), Bass, Mid and Treble controls].
Features that I do not use and do not care about: Bluetooth, FM radio, USB Record, Microphone input. If you like these features you will have to supply your own rating.
I Rated this unit at three stars because the Recording output feature does not work, and the Tape Monitor function does not work. The lack of these features reduces the flexibility of the device. If you do not use these features, you can rate the unit higher.
Limitations: the channels are reversed (compensate by reversing the input to your amplifier), the preamplifier is inverting (compensate by reversing the polarity at your speakers), there is a significant reduction in low frequency response (try to compensate by using tone controls to adjust to what you want). The low frequency reduction is only noticed by using high quality speakers or headphones. The MP3 player does not display ID3 data. There is saturation distortion on the MP3 player output (compensate by setting the MP3 player digital volume to 20 to eliminate distortion). Whether this distortion is audible depends on your setup, on mine I can hear the distortion. The Balance control does not work very well for me. The ground lift switch does not work. These limitations are important to me but they may not be noticeable by others.
Out of the box this MP3 player sounds good (“Atlantis Soundtrack and Sennheiser HD580 headphones, digital volume set to 20).
For those with technical ability you can do like I did and rewire the unit to fix the non-functioning recording output, the non-functioning Tape input, the low frequency reduction in output, the incorrect phase, the reversed channels, and improve the adjustment range of the midrange control, make the balance control more useful, remove the Microphone feature to lower the overall noise, and fix the ground lift control switch.
Out of the box the unit sounds good, and with modifications the unit is worthy to use with high quality speakers, amplifiers and headphones.
