i misremembered the price as higher and bought an adftermarket thermostat from oreilly(their best house branded tstat). that was dumb. It cost 15-20 dollars and caused a check engine light (due to slow opening) in a week or two. this oem stat, that likely lasted 175k on my car, is cheaper than i thought and works properly. save yourself the hassle and go oem on this part.

Worth every penny. Highly recommended oem thermostat than any aftermarket of any auto parts out there. Note the Subaru version has a much larger spring, larger diameter central area for coolant flow and is made of steel and brass. The generic brand contains copper, a big no no with Subaru. Subaru actually states that copper in a Subaru cooling system is ill advised and may cause excessive electrolysis and corrosion.

Does it’s job exceptionally, better than any aftermarket thermostat.
