Looking for a 28mm lens for my Leica M type 240, I did a lot of research. Leica lenses are always good, but come with a hefty price tag. This Zeiss lens meets all my criteria for a solid lens, including good value. The lens is sharp, easy to focus and I am very pleased with the image quality on the Leica camera. Colors are vibrant, and bokeh is reasonable for a 28mm lens. Highly recommended!

This lens is excellent! Of course, it's a Zeiss!! Build quality is very good as one would expect for the price. Zeiss lenses, even the old ones from the 1930s, are probably some of the best in the world. It's not just the designs or quality control. Of course, when one pays the kinds of prices one does for Zeiss or Leica glass, one must believe it their quality. :-) But, seriously, I have never been disappointed by a Zeiss lens.

This lightweight wideangle lens offers high center contrast even with the aperture fully opened.. This is a beautifull lens that posseses a superb creamy bokeh (Japanese word for smooth blurriness with discernable detail in the out of focus areas), yet it has razor sharpness where its focused on. According to those that know ,the only other lenses that might exceed the contrast and tonality of this lens are the two Leica Ms (28mm f/2.8 and f/2 asph), the Leica R 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit Its a sure winner in terms of cost/performance, too. This model has a C/Y bayonet mount but it can be adapted to Canon EOS with an adapter that I have and will be offering in a future posting . This lens has become hard to find as fine art photographers have found that it mates beautifully and synergistically with the imaging characteristics of the new breed of full frame sensors of the Canon Mark II series. This lens has acquired a perceived value to those who know and value the image quality that can be obtained with it and are willing to pay to have it. I bought this lens for my Leica M8 in order to get a focal length around 35mm (in fact 37mm) I love pictures rendering with the Zeiss ZM 28. Only one point: the lens front cover is not very handy, too easy to remove and not easy to put in place. In my opinion the optical qualities are very similar to Leica 35mm non aspheric Summicron lens
I'm using this lens on a Leica M8. Wonderful images. Crisp, with good contrast and color rendition.
