About this product

Product Information

The Nikon Nikkor 70-210mm f/4.0-5.6 D is a compact, mid-range telephoto zoom lens that is suitable for many different applications. This includes sports, portraits, and travel photography. With a diameter of 2.5 inches, this product is a retooled version of the similar f/4 autofocus lens. Although sold in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it still has something to offer for hobbyists and non-professional photographers who need to capture a crisp and sharp image at any range. This device is essentially compatible with many different FX or DX cameras that have an internal focusing motor. That means it will work with all compatible 35 mm Nikon SLRs and DSLRs. Whether you're using a D50, D70, D2X, or other camera types, it will support and enhance the system features of many different models. A Nikon F-mount with 5x CPU contacts is required to attach this device. This D version of the Nikkor 70-210mm f/4.0-5.6 optical lens provides quick focusing that allows you to capture fast-moving objects with precision and ease. It has focal lengths of 70 mm, 85 mm, 100 mm, 135 mm, and 210 mm, which are clearly marked on the barrel for convenience. With the aid of a CPU interface system, it displays distance information on the camera body while also providing you, the photographer, the ability to manually focus whenever you want. It has easy zoom control via a one-touch push and pull zoom ring. The system is engineered to accommodate 62 mm filters and 12 different elements in nine groups. This device features seven diaphragm blades that can reach a minimum aperture size of f/32 at 70 mm or f/45 at 210 mm focal length. The closest focusing distance you can achieve with this device is 1.2 meters for all zoom ranges in manual focus. In order to optimize the performance of your camera, this Nikon lens is designed with an integrated coating that minimizes ghosting effects and annoying flares. By increasing the camera's light transmission efficiency, it can essentially achieve a more consistent and uniform color balance. Nikon ensures that all of its lenses are specially designed with a unique integrated coating. The number of coatings applied to the device depends on both the lens type and glass. Coatings are most effective for lenses with a large number of elements, like the Nikon Nikkor 70-210mm f/4.0-5.6.This Nikon Nikkor AF-D lens has a strong and durable exterior, so it can endure rugged outdoor conditions while still delivering powerful results. Whether you are on vacation or attending a special event, this device can get the job done. Its body features a metallic filter thread and a jacket covering a greater part of the barrel, held in place by screws rather than molded plastic. Only the zoom and aperture rings are made from plastic. Weighing approximately 600 grams, this device features a compact and lightweight body for easier transportation and mobility. When it was originally released, this device came with a 62 mm front lens cap, a rear lens cap, and a hard case.

  • Great zoom at a great price

This lens gives great overall performance, is built solidly, has a metal mount (very important for the abuse my cameras go through), and focuses fast, even for a non-D model. Images are sharp and contrasty throughout the focal range on my D700, and image acuity does not lag too far behind much more expensive models like the 70-200 f/2.8. It would take a pixel peeper to tell the difference. If you are on a budget and need a great full frame zoom at a fraction of the price of the big boys, give this lens a look.

  • Very nice Lens

Smooth manual focussing ,solid construction and optically excellent at all focal lengths, even wide open. AF is quite good except for near to far as the model i received was the AF rather than AF-D as advertised. I've kept it as the AF has better manual focus. Really good results with my D300.

  • Old but Gold

I think I read all the reviews on the internet before buying this lens. I don't have pro glass to compare it to, but for my semi-pro purposes it works well. Images are sharp through the zoom range under good light. Zoomed out hand-held in dim light or indoors is iffy. Construction seems pretty solid. Very affordable. A cheap lens is no good if it sucks, but the price/performance ratio of this lens is actually pretty sweet.

  • Best lens for the price!

Wanted the f2.8 but did not want to pay $1500 for a lens. This one's a really great alternative to that. After trying it out with my camera, I would buy this lens even double the price!!!!

  • As good as AF-s

As sharp or sharper than current Nikkor consumer zooms, at a fraction of the cost of current comparable new lens. Mechanical build of lens superior to newer lenses, will still be in use when new lens lives out it's life span. Perfect complement to AF-D 28 - 70 - Note: only AF on D7000/D600 & above.

  • 70-210 Nikkor AF D Zoom

I needed to be sure I had some kind of lens in this range when my 80-200 Silent Wave zoom failed and wanted an economical but sharp lens to tide me over for any portrait work with studio strobes. I think this lens does just that. Ken Rockwell gives it high marks and that sold me. Glad I got the D version which is supposed to focus faster.

  • Best bang for the buck in Nikon D type zooms.

A superb Vintage D type zoom. Tack at all f stops, a steal on the used Market with a great range and reasonably fast. The 28-85mm is a tiny bit sharper but the additional range makes the 28-105mm a way better Lens overall.

  • Awesome lens sharp enough with good contrast . build like a tank !

Awesome lens I love it . its sharp enough for my d750 and got good color and contrast good focusing speed for a D lens ! build like a tank and will last me for sure . the lens I got is in mint condition , its heavy but good heavy for easy holding.

  • 28-105 Nikon Macro Zoom

Very nice lens. Clean, smooth; a little looseness of the main ring, but nothing to be concerned about. A great companion for a digital Nikon, FX. The macro makes it a very special zoom with lots of possibilities

  • Old Standard that Performs Beautifully

The lens is beautiful. It's has a fair amount of heft to it so lugging it around on vacation is not something I look forward to. The acuity and brightness is very strong and it focuses quite fast. It's a great lens. What more can be said. Read reviews of experts...
