About this product

Product Information

The Nikon Micro-Nikkor lens lets you shoot stunning close-ups and portraits. The f/2.8 aperture of this Nikon camera lens helps capture clear photos even in low light conditions. With a construction of 14 elements in 12 groups, this 105 mm f/2.8 lens effectively corrects the aberrations that occur while capturing photos. The 9-blade diaphragm in this Nikon camera lens gives you great out-of-focus shots. Moreover, the Super Integrated Coating (SIC) of this Nikon camera lens delivers photographs with superior color consistency and reduced flare. Featuring a Silent Wave Motor (SWM), the Nikon Micro-Nikkor lens ensures quiet and high-speed autofocus. The VR image stabilization feature combats camera shake, making this 105 mm f/2.8 lens more suitable for tracking and shooting moving subjects.

  • "Second to none"

This is one of my favorite manual focus lenses. The lens is very sharp and the focal length is just right for getting closeup shots of even the smallest things (flowers, insects, anything). The lens is great for macro and non-macro shots and thus becomes the only lens I need for mid-telephoto applications. The build quality is second to none.

  • Excellent Lens

These lenses are some of Nikon's best and you can't beat the price. I've shot Nikon since 2005 and these are by far the sharpest and most color-accurate lenses they make. Only down side is manual focus but if you're shooting in the studio it doesn't matter. Full metal construction and more durable and well built than most of Nikon's lenses. Can't recommend these enough.

  • Best value with excellent build and images.

This lens is the best value with excellent quality build and image quality in my opinion if you can find one in excellent or better condition for under $200.00 with extension tube. You will need to get the 52.5mm extension tube to get 1 to 1 life size images with this lens.

  • Solid professional-quality equipment

This lens is sharper than a 12 meg sensor can capture, and it is easy to focus well. There are plenty of detailed reviews available for this lens online, but I will share a couple of observations after using it on an older D700 for a while. Using this lens on a modern camera means that you have to use manually-set aperture settings (which are done, conveniently, on the lens itself in the old way), but if you are serious enough about photography to consider buying a lens like this one, that should be no big deal (you should be picking specific apertures anyway, and the aperture ring makes it easy to do that). You can let the camera pick the exposure or use the camera's manual controls for that. (And on most cameras these days, you can let the camera pick an appropriate ISO, so you can still focus-then-point-and-shoot with fixed A-S settings if that's your bag.) Something that might annoy some people is the fact that the manual lens settings controls in (most? all?) Nikon DSLRs don't include the lens name or model (or focus, perhaps obviously), and it annoyed me for about a minute, but I wrote an AppleScript that uses exiftool command lines to fill most of that in later and am happy with the results. I have attached some of the test shots I took took right after receiving the lens.

  • Nikkor 105 mm f2.8 micro

Nikkor AIS lenses are made in Japan. 105 f2.8 micro especially good I prefer the older manual focus ..seem to be built more solid

  • The item was very well packed and protected. The lens was a little stiff to focus as described but I was able to loosen it up and it works fine now.

  • Solid Telephoto and Macro Combo Lens

On a crop sensor, you can get close to a true macro with this lens. This lens is manual focus, but for macro you'll likely need to manual focus anyways. Works great as a telephoto as well.

  • A classic Micro Nikkor, super sharp, given the attention/ time

An all mechanical lens straight from the 80s, you focus and set the aperture yourself. Take your time, adjust everything right, the shallow depth of field is not forgiving, but once you nail it, wow!! The results are stunning from macro work to fine portraits.Worthy addition to a set.

  • macro with the "oldies"

Lens does every thing well and it makes you slow down and think more about composition. Lens also feels solid and not cheap or plastic feeling. Going to enjoy my new journey into the "macro" world. Good purchase for the money spent.

  • Great lens, but best used in MF

Takes beautiful pictures, but mine seems to not quite get the focus right in AF. In MF, it's perfect.
